Chapter 47 Be With Him

Natasha felt a jolt in her chest.

She shook her head quickly. “I wouldn’t dare.”

Even if she had nerves of steel, she’d never let Jared feed her.

Jared sat down right next to her.

“So, you want me to sit even closer and eat with you?” he teased.

His deep, eyes fixed on her, staring at her with a heated intensity.

Natasha couldn’t help but twitch her lips.

“I’d really rather you keep your distance,” she muttered, unconsciously edging away from him.

But before she knew it, Jared was right next to her again.

“What did you just say?” Jared’s eyes darkened with meaning.

Natasha quickly backtracked. “Nothing, Mr. Rundell. Really, I don’t want to trouble you. I can do it myself!”

With that, she hurriedly started shoveling food into her mouth.

She was seriously worried that if she said one more word, he’d actually try to feed her himself.

‘There’s no way I could handle that!’ she panicked.

Jared let out a soft snort, fixing his gaze on her without blinking.

Natasha hadn’t really felt hungry at first.

But after that first bite, she realized she was actually starving.

With every dish costing over ten grand, it was no surprise the food was insanely good.

She didn’t hold back and just went for it, eating to her heart’s content.

Jared watched as she shoveled food into her mouth, her cheeks puffed out like a chipmunk.

It was as if Natasha had completely forgotten that he was still sitting right next to her.

Jared felt his appetite vanish in an instant.

Every woman he’d ever dealt with before would always pretend to be refined, going out of their way to keep up an elegant image in front of him.

Natasha, on the other hand, was something else entirely.

She couldn’t care less.

He’d never met a woman who dared to be so casual around him.

He found himself seeing her in a whole new light, and feeling a weird, inexplicable frustration at the same time.

It was clear that Natasha wasn’t even thinking about him.

She didn’t care at all about how he saw her.

The more he dwelled on it, the more frustrated he got.

His hands clenched into fists without him even realizing it.

After Natasha finished eating that, she surprisinhly found out that Jared hadn’t touched his food at all.

“Why aren’t you eating?” Natasha couldn’t help but ask.

He was the one who invited her to eat with him, yet he hadn’t even taken a single bite.

Jared replied, “No appetite.”

Natasha was speechless.

She could feel his whole vibe turn noticeably colder.

She just couldn’t figure out how Jared could get annoyed out of nowhere like that.

Just then, there was a knock at the door.

Jared got up and went to open it.

Successfully unlocked!

Natasha saw his assistant, Derek, specifically bring over a first-aid kit.

Chapter 4 Be With Him

Just as Natasha was puzzling over things, her phone dinged.

It was a message from her close friend, Dorothy.

Dorothy: [My cousin just started seeing a lawyer who’s really good at handling divorce cases. Want me to arrange a meeting with him for you?]

Natasha didn’t even hesitate, she shot back to Dorothy with a single word: [Sure!]

Her marriage to Percy had reached its breaking point.

Now that Percy had someone else in his heart, Natasha had no reason to cling to him anymore.

All she wanted was to part ways with Percy peacefully.

Dorothy: [Are you free tonight? The company’s having a celebration party in a couple of days, and we’ll need to wear formal dresses. Want to go dress shopping with me?]

Natasha paused, a little taken aback.

She asked: [There’s a company celebration coming up in a couple of days?]

Dorothy reminded her: [Didn’t you check the group chat? Our company’s sales have been shooting up lately, especially after we scored that big overseas investment deal.

[That’s definitely something to celebrate, right? I heard all the execs will be there, but not everyone gets an invite. Of course, I need to get ready and look fabulous!]

Natasha checked the work group chat again.

Sure enough, she saw the notification about the company party.

So she told Dorothy she’d go dress shopping with her that evening.

Just as she finished replying, Natasha put her phone down and saw Jared walk over to her with the first-aid kit in hand.

His presence, with that unmistakable masculine scent, seemed to envelop her.

“Mr. Rundell, I’m just about finished…” Natasha said, her instincts kicking in as she started to get up.

Natasha stood up, her instincts telling her to get out of there.

But Jared suddenly grabbed her arm and pressed her back against the table.

Natasha was completely unprepared, her eyes widening as his handsome face moved in close to hers.

She thought he was about to steal another kiss from her.

Her face flushed bright red in an instant.

Jared glanced down at her, eyebrow raised. “I’m just applying medicine for you. Why are you blushing?”

Natasha froze, caught off guard.

She thought, ‘What?

‘He just wants to treat my wound? Not kiss me?’

Realizing she’d totally misunderstood, Natasha’s cheeks grew even redder.

Jared grabbed a tube of ointment from the kit, twisted off the cap, dabbed some onto his fingertip, and moved in close to Natasha’s face.

Natasha instinctively leaned away.

Jared quickly took hold of her chin, keeping her face steady.

“It’s for the swelling,” Jared explained.

He reached out, ready to apply the ointment himself.

Natasha pulled back, protesting, “Let me do it myself.”

Jared trapped her legs with his, holding her down even tighter.

“Stop moving!” he growled, his voice low and rough.

Natasha immediately felt the tension spike between them….

‘Why does he keep doing this to me?’ Natasha wondered, her heart pounding.

The way they were positioned was undeniably intimate, the atmosphere thick with tension.

Jared was at it again.

Natasha was so nervous she didn’t dare move an inch.

Jared’s long fingers touched her swollen cheek.

He gently applied the ointment.

A soothing coolness washed over her skin.

The pain vanished almost instantly.

The side of her face that Joelle had slapped didn’t hurt nearly as much anymore.

Jared kept his head bowed, staying close to her the whole time.

His eyes were locked on her as he carefully applied the ointment, totally focused on the task.

Natasha felt her cheeks flush even more, unable to stop the heat rising in her face.
