Chapter 64 Drunk and Rescued by Him

Chapter 64 Drunk and Rescued by Him

“So what if they are aware of this?” Natasha suddenly cut Sandra off.

Sandra stared at her in disbelief. “What did you just say?”

Natasha lifted her chin and repeated, “I said, so what if they know about it? It’s not like I have anything to do with therm anymore.”

Ever since she left Whittier Manor last time, she’d already fallen out with Bernard and Roxanne.

She wasn’t naive enough to think they’d ever forgive her.

The only person she’d ever clung to a shred of hope for was Sandra.

But she never expected her hopes to be crushed so quickly.

Sandra demanded angrily, “Natasha, what are you saying? Are you seriously thinking about breaking away from the Whittier family?”

“Roxanne’s always wanted me out of the Whittier family, and Dad never cared about me…” Natasha narrowed her eyes at her. “What about you, Mom? Do you care?”

Sandra’s gaze wavered.

She replied, but her words rang hollow, “Of course I don’t want you to leave the Whittier family.”

Natasha saw right through Sandra’s lie, and a cold emptiness settled in her chest.

“Don’t worry, Mom. I am the one leaving the Whittier family. You won’t get caught up in this,” Natasha said.

She knew as long as Collin stayed in Whittier Manor, Sandra would never choose her over the family.

Maybe she used to hold onto a sliver of hope.

But now, she was starting to realize that Sandra never really loved her.

She felt that the older she got, the more she saw how harsh the world really was.

It was a good thing she was grown now. She didn’t need Sandra’s love anymore.

Now, she could take care of herself.

Sandra’s expression kept shifting, like her real feelings had just been exposed.

“That’s not what I meant. I’m just looking out for you…” she rushed to defend herself.

Natasha frowned and retorted, “If you really cared about me, you wouldn’t have told me to drop the charges at the police station! Ask yourself. Has Joelle ever stopped hurting me all these years?”

A flicker of disgust flashed in Sandra’s eyes. “Is that what this is? Are you just out for revenge against your sister?”

Natasha felt utterly drained.

But above all, she just felt helpless.

She thought, ‘Why does Sandra always act like Joelle hurting me is fine?

‘But the one time I stand up for myself, it is called revenge?’

“This time, Joelle and Roxanne set Mr. Hammers up to drug me. Did you ever stop to think how bad things could’ve gotten for me?” Natasha demanded, her voice trembling with rage and frustration.

But Sandra just waved it off, “The drug didn’t even take effect, right? Why bother holding it against your sister? I’m sure Roxanne was the one who pushed her into it.

“Joelle’s not a bad kid. For my sake, can’t you just let it go and give her another chance? She’s still so young. If she ends up with a police record, that’ll ruin her whole life…”

Sandra looked so earnest, almost pleading with Natasha by the end.

Natasha just couldn’t understand where Sandra was coming from.

Natasha thought, ‘What does she mean, the drug didn’t work? Is that supposed to make it okay?

‘So I’m supposed to just let Joelle slide because her plan failed? Seriously?

‘If that drug had really worked, would there even be a way to fix things? Would anything be reversible?

‘And now Mom wants me to let Joelle off the hook, just because she asked? What does she even mean by that?’

Natasha frowned, hurt and confused. “Mom, tell me. Between Joelle and me, who’s actually your daughter?”

Honestly, she couldn’t help but ask.

Growing up, it was always clear that Sandra cared about Joelle way more than she ever did about her.

Natasha felt that maybe Sandra never really loved her. All Sandra ever cared about was Joelle and Collin. Natasha thought, ‘But I’m her actual daughter. Joelle belongs to Roxanne.

‘How could a mother ignore her own child, but shower affection on her husband’s other woman’s daughter?”

A flicker of panic flashed in Sandra’s eyes.

Feeling guilty, she barked back even harsher, “What are you talking about? If Joelle were really my daughter, do you think Roxanne would spoil her like that?

“I just don’t want to upset your dad and Roxanne over something this small, and risk jeopardizing Collin’s place as heir to the Whittier family.”

Natasha thought, ‘So this is just a minor issue?

‘Turns out, in Sandra’s eyes, being drugged by Joelle and Roxanne is no big deal.

‘But Collin’s place as heir to the Whittier family is the real priority.’

Growing up, whenever Natasha questioned anything, Sandra would always tell her to suck it up for Collin’s sake.

Natasha used to understand how tough things had been for Sandra, being neglected by her husband and bullied by Roxanne all these years.

But now, she was starting to see that Sandra’s endurance wasn’t really about her at all. Instead, she was just selling Natasha out to Roxanne and her dad to keep herself safe.

The more she trusted Sandra in the past, the more let down she felt at that moment.

“Mom, I’m done. From now on, I’m not covering for you or letting anyone hurt me because of you,” Natasha said, a cold, mocking smile tugging at her lips as she looked at Sandra.

With that, she turned and walked out of the private room without looking back.

Behind her, Sandra’s outraged yelling filled the air, but Natasha walked out without a second glance.

Night had fallen.

Natasha had spent the whole day aimlessly wandering the streets alone, until she found herself passing by a bar.

Without a second thought, she pushed the door open and walked inside.

Right now, she needed some alcohol to drown out the chaos in her head.

She slid onto a barstool, ordered a bottle of hard liquor, and drank straight from the bottle without hesitation.

As she downed half the bottle, it burned her throat, scorched her stomach, and stung her heart.

But Natasha kept gulping it down, swig after swig, like she couldn’t stop, as if she was racing to drown herself in alcohol.

‘Maybe if I get drunk, it won’t hurt so much,’ she thought.

She had no idea how much time had passed. Then, a person appeared beside her.

“Hey, pretty lady, you sure can drink. Want me to buy you a few more bottles?” the guy said, flashing a sleazy grin.

Natasha slowly lifted her head, struggling to focus her blurry eyes on the man in front of her.

‘Who the hell is this guy? Never seen him before, Natasha thought.

She ignored him and kept drinking.

Instead of getting annoyed by her ignoring him, the guy just casually threw his arm around Natasha’s shoulders. “Come on, pretty lady, don’t be so cold…” he teased.
