Chapter 81 Divorce
Chapter 81 Divorce
In the CEO’s office, Jared sat behind his desk, a smile lingering on his handsome face.
Just thinking about Natasha waiting for him at home made his heart feel softer than ever before.
Derek pushed the door open and walked in.
When he saw the smile on Jared’s face, he almost thought he was seeing things.
Derek wondered, ‘What’s up with Mr. Rundell today?
‘The BC Project leak still hasn’t been dealt with.
‘Why has he been so out of it since this morning?
‘And every now and then, he will flash a strange, almost unsettling smile.’
“Mr. Rundell?” Derek walked up to his desk.
Jared’s smile vanished, his face turning cold again. “What is it?”
Derek looked worried. “Natasha hasn’t shown up at work all day. I even checked the hospital, but she was nowhere to be found, and she’s not picking up her phone. Did something happen to her?”
Jared’s gaze turned serious. “She’s okay, nothing happened. She’s at my place now.”
Derek was stunned.
He could hardly believe his ears.
“What? She’s staying at your place?” Derek blurted out.
Jared saw Derek’s shocked expression and raised an eyebrow. “Is that a problem?”
Derek thought, ‘Oh, there’s definitely a problem.
‘And it’s a massive one!’
“Mr. Rundell, what made you let her move in with you? Don’t tell me you’re actually falling for her?” Derek blurted out, unable to hide his suspicion.
If Derek used to think Jared was only mildly interested in Natasha, now he was sure Jared was head over heels.
Jared was a total clean freak and super territorial.
He never let strangers set foot in his place, and even Derek hardly ever got invited over.
But now, he was actually letting Natasha stay there.
Jared didn’t give Derek a straight answer.
Instead, he changed the subject, “Any update on Mr. Mallin’s whereabouts?”
Derek shook his head. “No luck so far.”
Jared’s tone was firm and left no room for argument. “Until we find him and track down whoever’s really behind this, Natasha stays at my place. I’m not letting her life be put at risk again.”
Derek knew that Jared was doing all this to protect Natasha.
He thought, ‘But if it were anyone else involved in this case, would Mr. Rundell let them stay at his place?
‘Probably not.’
Natasha never thought she’d ever move into Jared’s mansion.
This was like something straight out of a dream.
Even in her wildest dreams, she wouldn’t have dared imagine this.
Jared had already prepared a guest room especially for her.
And it was right next to his own bedroom.
After freshening up, Natasha went downstairs to grab some breakfast.
“Ms. Whittier!” A middle-aged woman offered her a polite greeting.
“And you are?” Natasha asked, giving her a puzzled look.
The woman smiled warmly. “I’m the housekeeper Mr. Rundell brought in. You can just call me Margot. He told me to take

good care of you
Margor Wade had been working at the Rundell family for years, practically watching Jared grow up
This morning, she’d gotten a sudden call from Jared, telling her to hurry over and look after the woman who’d moved into Thus home
Margot couldn’t help but wonder, What kind of woman could possibly catch the eye of Mr. Rundell, who never shows any interest in gris?
It all made sense the moment she laid eyes on Natasha
Her face was so delicate and flawless, it was like she stepped right out of a magazine.
She had a slim, curvy figure, and her long, jet-black hair flowed over her shoulders like a waterfall of silk.
From every angle, she was drop-dead gorgeous.
No wonder Mr. Rundell got his eye on her, Margot thought.
“Hello, Margot” Natasha greeted her politely.
Margot smiled and reminded her, “Breakfast is all set, Ms. Whittier. Go ahead and eat before it gets cold?”
“Okay Natasha replied.
Natasha had just finished breakfast in the dining room when her phone started ringing.
“Hello?” she answered.
She saw Percy’s name flash on the screen and answered the call
Percy’s cold voice came through the phone. “Meet me at the City Hall tomorrow at nine in the morning.”
Natasha froze for a second.
It took her a moment to realize that Percy was actually asking her to get the divorce certificate.
So he’s already signed the divorce agreement? Natasha thought, feeling a surge of delight.
She couldn’t help but feel a burst of joy.
But thinking about her situation right now, Natasha hesitated.
If she just went out, the mastermind could have her silenced at any moment.
She quickly spoke up, “Wait a second.”
A sly smile curled at Percy’s lips.
It was almost like he’d been expecting her to ask him to wait.
“Are you backing out now? Percy sounded totally sure of himself.
He’d always known that if he really asked her to meet at the City Hall, she’d be the one to hesitate
He was waiting for Natasha to beg him to stay, to ask him not to divorce her.
But to his surprise, Natasha replied, “No, that’s not it. Things are a bit hectic for me right now, so I can’t make it to the City Hall Can we delay getting the divorce certificate for a few days?”
“You” Percy’s eyes widened in shock, then narrowed in disbelief
His chest tightened with a suffocating frustration.
He was floored. Natasha wasn’t begging him not to divorce her, she just wanted to postpone the whole divorce process Percy wondered, Does she really want to divorce me?
“No, I don’t buy it.
She can’t actually bear to leave me
Percy felt torn inside, his thoughts all tangled up
Finally, barely keeping his anger in check, he demanded. ‘Is that it? You don’t really want the divorce, do you?”
Natasha hurriedly denied, “No, I’m not…”
Percy demanded coldly, “If that’s true, then why can’t we just get the certificate right now?
“Why insist on delaying it for a few days? Do you really think stalling is going to change anything?”
Natasha was honestly speechless.

She thought, Since when was Percy this full of himself?
God knows I am dying to just get the divorce over with as soon as possible.
If she wasn’t worried about getting hunted down by the mastermind, she’d have rushed to the City Hall already
