“Conscience?”
Steven snorted. “Look at the world we live in. Who still cares about conscience? The stronger someone is, the colder they get. Don’t you know what David and that Harvey are like?”
The two men went quiet.
Steven pulled out a small pack from his pocket, rolled some tobacco into a cigarette, lit it, and took a drag. Then he said to the two younger men, “In this world, almost nobody feels any moral responsibility anymore. We’re the same. We keep trying to persuade passing survivors with abilities to stay. Why? For our town.
“Their teammates went to Flintwood Town. There’s a good chance they’re going to fight the people there. Whether they live or die, we don’t know. For now, we’ll send people to watch. If there’s news, report it right away. If things go bad, we’ll go take that truck full of supplies.”
To put it simply, they wanted both sides to fight each other so they could take the benefit in the end!
It was the only way for “weak” people like them to survive in a world where the strong eat the weak.
Only if the people in Flintwood Town were killed could Channing Town finally live in peace.
Flintwood Town.
Harvey had been waiting in the house for a while.
His psychic ability had clearly sensed several intruders getting closer. But suddenly, they stopped moving.
He narrowed his eyes and called his men over, telling them to search in that direction.
But just a few minutes later, one of his men ran back covered in blood.
“T–this is bad! Harvey, they’re all dead!”
“What happened?”
Harvey could only sense other psychic ability users. He couldn’t track other people’s
movements.

He had to rely on his men for that.
:
But these people were much more cunning than he expected.

His lackey panted, his face full of fear. “Two of our guys tried to get close and grab the woman sitting there. But their heads got cut off instantly!
“Same for the others! Anyone who gets close to her ends up dead!
“They were so fast! We couldn’t even see them moving. When I turned around, everyone else was already dead… I barely made it back alive!”
Harvey’s face was dark. “Is it that woman who killed my brother?”
“I–I don’t know… It looked like more than two people! At least five people were hiding in ambush!”
Harvey sat in the chair without moving, his mind racing as he used his psychic ability to investigate.
But his power still wasn’t strong enough to spread out and detect everyone like a net.
For now, he had to find a way to kill that psychic ability user first.
But at this distance…
He had used up too much energy attacking her earlier. He needed to get closer to make sure he could finish the job.
After thinking for a moment, he asked, “How many people do we have left to fight?”
The lackey gritted his teeth and wiped the blood off his face. “We lost a lot of guys fighting Channing Town before. More than half of our men died. Then there was the ambush just now, and David’s group. Now we only have about 20 men left who can fight. Only five of them have abilities…”
“What about the others?”
“There are no others…”
Harvey looked at him like he was an idiot and glared. “The women! Those women!”
“Oh, right! The women… David killed two of them yesterday. There should be eight or nine left.”
The lackey looked at Harvey. “What’s the plan?”

Harvey narrowed his eyes and sneered. “Let a few of them out as bait. Make them lure that woman out!”
The lackey’s eyes lit up. “That’s genius!”
“And that Oliver Cook. Bring him out too.”
Harvey’s knuckles were cracking as he clenched his fists. His eyes were bloodshot as he stared out the window.
He was going to make sure none of these people left his town alive.
“But…”
The lackey hesitated. “Oliver is still unconscious. And whenever he wakes up, he keeps asking. for his sister. Harvey, you know David already… His sister is…”
“It’s fine. Bring him here. I’ll handle it.”
Harvey narrowed his eyes. “After we’re done using him, we’ll send him to join his sister.”
