Chapter 182 A Boy
As long as Amber was stronger than Oliver and could protect Ivy, she would never be at the bottom‘
“Cecelia, I’ll take that level 1 zombie over there!” she shouted, suddenly bursting forward like she’d taken some stimulant.
Cecelia raised an eyebrow. She had to admit Amber’s enthusiasm was really starting to grow on her.
After wandering for a while, the two of them collected five level 1 mutated zombie crystals and one leve! 2 crystal–but no level 3.
Amber didn’t get discouraged. Blushing, she said, “Cecelia, in Merriton, you only ran into one level 3 mutated zombie. That shows level 3 isn’t easy to find.”
“Right. Not here, but Sanctum won’t be lacking.”
Cecelia glanced at Amber, then noticed something in the nearby woods.
Areas like those could spawn level 1 or 2 mutated beasts. She decided to take Amber in.
“Cecelia, I think I see someone!” Amber whispered, pointing in a direction.
Sure enough, a figure sprinted deep into the woods.
Cecelia raised an eyebrow and quickly gave chase.
It turned out to be a boy of about 12 or 13.
He was wearing tattered, filthy clothes, covered in dirt, his face barely recognizable.
He ran fast, but Cecelia matched him easily.
Halfway through, she slowed down, losing interest.
The boy, thinking no one was behind him, hid behind a tree to catch his breath. But in the next second. something lunged at him!
“Help!” he screamed in terror.
Amber caught up to Cecelia just as she accelerated toward the source of the scream.
A few hundred feet away, a filthy little boy was pinned to the ground by a red–eyed, mutated monke
The boy struggled desperately as the monkey tried to bite his face.
Just as he hit the peak of despair, the monkey’s head flew off!
Black blood sprayed out, splattering the boy’s face.
He gasped, pushed the corpse away, and saw a clean, stylish, and capable–looking young wornan berading down, slicing the monkey’s head off with a blade.
Chapter 182 A Boy
Squelch!
The sound of steel cutting into the brain was crisp and clear.
The boy froze in terror, eyes wide as he watched Cecelia’s movements.
Cecelia grabbed the level 1 mutated monkey crystal, which was round, red, and a little bigger than a rat crystal.
She wiped it off and tucked it into her pouch.
The boy, now completely scared out of his mind, curled up under the tree, shivering.
“D–d–don’t kill me!”
Cecelia’s lip twitched slightly.
She wasn’t good with kids, so she ignored him and turned to leave.
Amber hurried to her side. “Cecelia, this boy looks like an ability user!”
“Yes,” Cecelia said casually. “Nothing surprising. Abilities can awaken in anyone, adult or child.
“If you survive the initial fever from the virus, even a fetus in the womb could awaken.”
“I see!” Amber exclaimed, nodding repeatedly.
She glanced at the monkey’s corpse. “So this mutated monkey is only level 1?”
“Yes.”
Cecelia didn’t look at the boy again. “Let’s keep moving. If there’s one, there are probably two. Monkeys are social animals.”
“Got it!”
Amber frowned and glanced at the boy, but she didn’t say anything more and followed Cecelia.
The boy was an ability user. Even if his power wasn’t strong, he wouldn’t be completely alone. There were probably adults nearby, so they didn’t need to get involved.
The boy curled up under the tree, surprised that Cecelia and Amber had just walked away.
He froze, leaned against the tree, and stared in the direction they had gone for a long moment. Then by expression shifted, and he bolted off in another direction.
Cecelia had brought Amber into the woods to hunt mutated beasts
This kind of challenge was actually much tougher.
After taking down one mutated monkey, they soon spotted its next nearby
