Cecelia raised her eyebrows slightly and said to the group, “In any case, try not to split up. There will definitely be level 4 or level 5 zombies inside Sanctum. As long as we don’t get separated, our chances of survival will be much higher.”

Ivy and Amber both nodded, understanding what she meant.

Amber even rubbed her hands together excitedly and said to Cecelia, “Cecelia, I really want to level up soon. How about you take me out for a walk tonight?”

If she could reach level 3 before entering Sanctum, the team’s combat strength would increase again.

Cecelia didn’t refuse her suggestion. “Sure. I’ll take you out tonight to look around.”

Amber said happily. Cecelia’s gaze, however, fell on Jerome. She walked straight toward him. “Jerome, want to take a walk nearby?”

Jerome paused slightly. It was obvious that she had something private to say to him. He didn’t refuse. After giving a quiet “okay,” he followed her.

Amber saw this from a distance and couldn’t help leaning toward Ivy. “Ivy, where is Cecelia taking Jerome?”

Ivy glanced at them once before looking away. “Maybe she’s teaching Jerome some self–defense skills. He’s the only one in our team without an ability, Jerome might have some thoughts about that too.”

“He never talks all day!” Amber couldn’t help complaining. “He’s like a sealed jar. It takes forever for him to squeeze out a single word like ‘yeah‘ or ‘okay. Other than that, he barely speaks. He always gives off a strange feeling.”

Ivy felt more or less the same way. But Jerome was

someone Cecelia/had chosen to keep.

Whether good or bad, Cecelia had her own plans. Ivy wouldn’t say too much about it. She simply told Amber, “That’s just Jerome’s personality. If we can be more tolerant, then let’s be more tolerant. After all, he’s been with us for a while now, and nothing like the bad luck Jayson talked about has happened. And… he’s actually quite well–behaved. He doesn’t cause trouble. When Cece asks him something, he answers. He just doesn’t have much presence.”

Timothy’s team had a large truck full of supplies. A pair of shoes was nothing.

Then Oliver pulled out a pair of sneakers from under the car seat. There were small blood stains on them. It looked like he had taken them from a corpse not long ago.

Ivy froze for a moment.

Oliver spoke awkwardly. “Flintwood Town…”

Ivy felt helpless.

Amber couldn’t help laughing. “So he really did take them off a corpse. Looks like the burly guy isn’t completely stupid!”

At least he knew his shoes were broken and needed new ones. Would a fool think of that?

But right after she praised him, the two of them watched Oliver put on the new shoes. At least one inch of his big toes stuck out from the front.

In other words, the shoes were new. But they didn’t fit at all.

Oliver looked at Ivy with a completely confused expression.

“Cecelia said before that Jerome is important. As for how important, she didn’t explain. That means she doesn’t want us to know. Since we’re not one team, whatever decisions she makes are her own reasons. It doesn’t really concern us. Hendrick, maybe you…”

Timothy looked at him and hesitated. “Maybe you should pay a little less attention to Cecelia,”
