Chapter 248 The Miracle Chicken
“That’s chicken soup I’m smelling, isn’t it? I can already tell!”
“It has to be!”

Amber had been thinking about the chicken Cecelia pulled out of her space last time–the most incredible steamed chicken she’d ever tasted.
She’d been dreaming about round two but hadn’t wanted to ask.
This was her chance.
Cecelia looked at the two of them, practically drooling, and smiled. “It’s chicken, yes. And besides the chicken, I’ve got a barbecue set up, too.”
She hauled the grill out into the courtyard.
Ivy followed with a full tray of pre–marinated skewers, setting them on a side table.
“Oh, my God!”
Amber couldn’t hold back the tears anymore–she was that excited. “Since the apocalypse started, I haven’t had barbecue… Wait, how come I can already smell it? We haven’t even started grilling.”
She caught herself mid–celebration. Something was off. She sniffed the air.
The barbecue smell was drifting in from outside their compound.
Draven poked his head out the door and reported back. “It’s Timothy’s team! They’re grilling something!”
“What a coincidence!”
Amber said. “They’ve got a whole supply truck, though, so barbecue isn’t exactly surprising.”
“No, I think they’re roasting… a wild boar?”
“What?!”
Even Cecelia was surprised. She walked to the door and looked.
Sure enough.
Hendrick’s crew had procured a young wild boar from God–knows–where, cleaned and seasoned it, and had it turning on a full–sized spit roast.
The mouthwatering aroma was coming from their direction.
The chef was Timothy.
His barbecue technique was so polished it made you wonder if he’d apprenticed at a professional grill
house.

Cecelia had to admit–even her mouth was watering.
But!
She turned back to Draven and Amber. “Nothing special over there. Wild boar is way too gamey. We’re eating chicken.”
“Yes! Absolutely!”
Draven nodded vigorously. “I haven’t had chicken soup in forever. Can’t wait.”
He’d barely finished the sentence when Blake walked out carrying an enormous pot.
Draven’s eyes went wide. “You need a pot that big for just one chicken?”
But when the lid came off-
He realized just how wrong he’d been.
Why did a chicken this massive even exist?
This thing was practically a turkey..
Incredible.
Cecelia said calmly, “This isn’t a normal chicken.”
“Huh?”
Draven stared at her, and the answer clicked almost immediately. “Don’t tell me–it’s from your space?”
“It is.”
Cecelia reached in and lifted the entire bird out of the broth.
She could feel it–maybe because this chicken had been raised longer, but the soup practically hummed with concentrated blue cobalt fluid energy.
The meat itself was radiating even more.
This one held at least three times the potency of the last chicken she’d served.
She had a flicker of concern–would this be too much for the others‘ bodies to handle?
Cecelia was a little worried.
She tested a piece herself first, then tore the bird into portions and had everyone try a small bite.
“This chicken…”
Amber swallowed her piece in one gulp, and in that instant, every trace of exhaustion in her body evaporated.

Her eyes went wide. “Cecelia, this chicken has some kind of superpower!”
“Hm?”
Cecelia heard her out and couldn’t help but laugh. “I wouldn’t exactly call it a superpower.”
“The fatigue really did just… vanish. And…”
Ivy’s voice dropped, excitement creeping in. “I think my ability channels changed, too. Whatever you’re feeding these chickens in your space, Cece–they’re different. I had a feeling last time, but it was faint. This time, it’s unmistakable.”
“Changed how?”
“My ability channels got slightly… wider.”
“What?!”
Even Cecelia was stunned by that.
She looked at Amber, Draven, and Blake. “What about you three?”
“I think mine widened a little, too.”
Amber sounded dazed. “Your chickens can do that, Cecelia?”
“Holy crap, it’s real!”
Draven yelped. “This is a thousand times better than wild boar!”
