Chapter 272 The Head That Wouldn’t Die
He gestured for Cecelia to look in a certain direction. “It’s over there. We need to end this fast. We strike together.
“I got it.” Cecelia nodded.
Without hesitation, she tore a seatbelt from a wrecked car and wrapped it around both their hands. “Will this work?”
Blake paused for a split second at how quick and decisive she was, then nodded. “Yes.”
Even through their clothes, he could feel a steady flow of life force coming from her.
That power suppressed the thing inside him. It worked even better than the blue blood.
As long as Cecelia held onto him, he wouldn’t lose control.
That made things much easier.
The two of them charged toward where the level 5 mutated zombie was hiding. Oliver and Amber moved in
too.
Four people closed in, surrounding the creature completely.
This time, Cecelia didn’t hesitate.
Slash!
Her blade came down clean.
The zombie’s head dropped to the ground.
But it wasn’t dead.
Its pale purple eyes were still moving. Thick vines burst out of the ground again, wrapping around the head as it tried to escape.
No way Cecelia would let that happen.
She dragged Blake along and chased after it. With a powerful kick, she sent the zombie’s head flying like a soccer ball. The vines beneath it snapped under her strength,
Oliver moved like a goalkeeper. He lunged forward, caught the head, and quickly drove his dagger into the skull to dig out the crystal.
After a bit of effort, he finally pulled it free-a crystal that was pale purple mixed with deep dark green.
Only then did the zombie’s eyes go dull.
Blake pulled back his psychic threads. The headless body hanging in midair dropped to the ground with a heavy thud.

Chapter 272 The Head That Wouldn’t Die
All around them, the wild branches and vines froze. Without control, they died where they stood.
“Did we… win?!” Draven came out carrying Ivy, staring in shock at the headless corpse. “That didn’t feel as hard as I thought.”
But the scariest moment had been earlier.
When the zombie, already restrained, suddenly moved again. He and Ivy had both cried out in shock.
Luckily, Cecelia had stopped in time. Otherwise, charging in with a level 4 body against a level 5 enemy would’ve been like throwing herself into fire.
Unless she was made of steel, she wouldn’t have come out unharmed.
“This zombie wasn’t that strong to begin with,” Blake said, frowning as he rubbed his aching temple. The heavy use of his psychic ability was draining him fast. “It already used up a lot of energy trapping us earlier. That’s why we could fight back now.”
He paused, then added, “Compared to this one, the other one is much stronger. We were lucky not to face it directly.”
“Yeah.” Cecelia nodded and looked at the others. “Anyway, never take high-level mutated zombies lightly. If Blake hadn’t picked this place for the fight, it would’ve been much harder out in the open.”
In wide spaces, a wood-ability enemy could fully unleash its
power.
But this abandoned car yard was packed with wrecked vehicles. It made it hard for vines and branches to move freely.
On top of that, Amber had already worn it down earlier. The zombie got angry and lost control, which helped them win.
In the end, it only managed to kill two of her roosters.
Cecelia quickly stored all the roosters-including the bodies-back into her storage space.
Then she glanced at their hands tied with the seatbelt and asked Blake, “How do you feel now? Can we untie it?”
“Yeah,” Blake coughed lightly, his voice a little hoarse. “Sorry for the trouble.”
“It’s nothing.” Cecelia snapped the seatbelt loose and freed them both. She smiled. “I just didn’t expect I could help you like this.”
“I only found out by accident,” Blake said calmly.
He didn’t mind her knowing his secret.
Back when he was Jerome, his mind-reading ability had picked up things about Cecelia. Her rebirth
wasn’t a secret to him.
So revealing that he was
