Apocalypse God Mode: Unlocked (Cecilia) novel Chapter 294

Chapter 294 The Limit of Strength

“That thing armored itself. The guy’s blade just bounced off-he can’t even scratch it!”

Hearing that, Barry looked back toward the battlefield.

His teammate was right.

The big man had to be a Level 4 physical ability user at minimum–speed and raw power both obviously formidable.

But the strike he’d just landed hadn’t left a mark.

The mutated zombie had wrapped itself in a dense shell of molten metal. When the blade hit, all they heard was the agonizing shriek of steel on steel.

Barry’s scalp went numb. He backpedaled several steps on instinct.

Amber noticed, too-Cecelia’s side needed help, fast.

She shouted at the lingering ability users. “What are you still doing here?! Go!”

Barry flinched, turned, and ran to catch up with his teammates.

But he couldn’t stop himself from glancing back.

That girl-the one fighting the zombie-was inhumanly fast.

Her wood ability vines kept erupting from the earth/thicker and thicker.

And the angles of attack were growing more unpredictable.

The advanced mutated zombie was being forced onto the defensive.

Its movements had visibly slowed.

They could still win this!

Barry walked a good distance before stopping. He turned and headed for higher ground.

His teammate grabbed his arm. “Are you insane? We should be running-not looking for a balcony seatt

“They can win. I’m going to find a hiding spot, and if the chance comes, I’ll help.”

Barry understood-they were only alive because these people had shown up.

Mutated zombies, no matter the level, were the enemy of every living ability user and survivor.

Chapter 294 The Limit of Strength

“You’re out of your mind!”

His teammate cursed his out. “Go get yourself killed, then. We’re heaving.”

“I’m not asking you to come. Go.”

Barry broke into a run toward a vantage point.

His teammates stared at his retreating back, faces full of disbelief. Finally, they bolted in the opposite direction.

One of them slowed. “Isn’t it dangerous for Barry to go back alone? Maybe we should knock him out and drag him with us.”

“He’s volunteering to die. A Level 3, thinking he’s hot stuff? We’ll be fine without him”

“That’s not-he’s still our teammate. I know Barry. He just wants to help…”

“Not going. If you want to, do it yourself.”

The man walked off without looking back.

The remaining two exchanged uncertain looks, then gazed toward where Barry had disappeared.

The metal-control Level 5 was every bit as tough as it looked.

They’d been fighting for 15 minutes.

They’d burned through ability energy without inflicting a single wound.

Oliver had tried flanking attacks multiple times-every one was blocked.

Amber had tried overpowering the zombie’s metal control during one of Blake’s psychic-suppression windows. She’d failed.

The recoil had flung her a considerable distance. She’d coughed up blood and blacked out.

Draven had grabbed Ivy and raced over to heal her. She’d barely pulled through.

“This Level 5 metal-control zombie is insane. Its ability basically hard-counters Cecelia,” Draven muttered.

It was true-same type of attack.

Vines versus metal wasn’t even a contest.

Cecelia’s only advantage was that her speed and stamina hadn’t diminished one bit.

Unlike Oliver.

Oliver was running on fumes. He’d started burning through crystals to keep going

Draven frowned. “Blake’s not at his best today, either. Probably because this Level 5 is just too powerful. The upside was that even a zombie burned through energy. It couldn’t keep this up forever. If Cecelia could outlast it, they work

A battle of endurance?
