Chapter 97 The Rat Swarm
Ryan leaned against the metal security gate when suddenly something snagged his clothes.
He whipped his head around and saw a rat the size of a dog crouching outside the gate, repeatedly hooking its claws into his clothes!
Rip!
Not only did it tear the hem of his pants, the giant rat even bared its teeth at him.
“Squeak! Squeak!”
Four sharp fangs dripped with thick blood.
The moment it opened its mouth, it lunged forward and tried to bite him!
Ryan was so scared he scrambled backward, rolling across the ground.
But he was still a step too slow.
The rat’s sharp teeth hooked directly into his belt!
Rip!
With the strong pulling force from both directions, his pants were torn completely in half.
Ryan lunged forward. A cold draft swept across his backside, making his entire body shiver.
“Ryan!”
Timothy rushed forward and pulled him up from the ground.
Ryan touched his butt, his mind buzzing.
Who was he?
Where was he?
Was his butt still intact?!
Finished
His expression changed dramatically. He reached back to touch it again. When his hand felt a sticky liquid, he nearly lost his mind. He grabbed Timothy’s arm tightly. “Timothy! I… I got bitten!”
Timothy’s expression darkened. He threw an ice blade that instantly sliced through the neck of the
mutated rat.
The rat dropped to the ground.
Only then did he turn to look at Ryan’s backside. It was covered in thick blood stains left by the rat’s teeth marks. It was impossible to tell whether he had actually been bitten.

“Ivy! Come check Ryan!”
Timothy sounded urgent.
Ivy hurried over.
Finished
Cecelia’s mouth twitched. She lifted her leg and kicked Ryan directly on his exposed backside where his pants had been torn.
“Damn!”
Ryan fell straight onto the couch from the kick. He glared at Cecelia with pure hatred. “If I mutate, the first person I’m biting is you, you damn freeloader! I’ll turn you into a zombie!”
Cecelia looked completely unimpressed. “Sure. Then I’ll just chop your head off right away and dig out the level 3 crystal from your brain. That would count as you paying me back.”
“What the hell!”
Ryan cursed nonstop. He quickly covered his butt and looked at Ivy like she was his last hope. “Ivy, save
me!”
Ivy felt extremely awkward.
Of all places to get hurt, it had to be there.
She wasn’t even much older than Ryan. How was she supposed to treat that kind of injury?
But the situation was urgent, and she didn’t have time to hesitate. Gritting her teeth, she stepped forward.
“No need. He’s not injured.”
Cecelia grabbed Ivy’s arm and stopped her. Then she said to Timothy and the others, “What showed up just now was a mutated rat. The virus carried by these rats is even more terrifying than the zombie virus. If someone really gets bitten, they’ll start mutating in less than a minute. Look at him. Does he look like he’s mutating?”
Ryan was still crying and swearing loudly.
There was clearly no sign of mutation.
The only noticeable thing was the footprint Cecelia had just left on his butt.
“Cough.”
Timothy quickly took off his jacket and covered Ryan’s backside with it. He pushed him lightly. “You’re fine. You weren’t bitten.”
Ryan was sweating heavily from fear. The pain in his butt made him feel like crying. “Timothy, don’t lie to me! If I wasn’t bitten, why does it hurt so much? Hurry and let Ivy heal me! Otherwise I’m really going to die! I just upgraded to level 3 and haven’t even had the chance to show off my ability yet. I can’t die!”
Timothy rubbed his forehead.

Finished
Hendrick’s mouth twitched slightly. He grabbed Ryan and pulled him off the couch. “Go check the bathroom yourself to see if you were bitten. If you weren’t, it won’t be too late to get treatment afterward. Don’t worry. If you die, we’ll give you a proper burial.”
Ryan’s eyes widened instantly. “Hendrick, when did you start sounding like that damn freeloader Cecelia? Can you say something normal for once?”
“Act like a normal person and I will. OK?”
Ryan fell silent.
He felt incredibly wronged. His body trembled as he covered his butt. After glaring hatefully at Cecelia, he ran toward the bathroom with red eyes.
Cecelia ignored him.
Her eyebrows were deeply knitted together as she stared at the corpse of the mutated rat outside. Its body was about the size of an ordinary adult dog.
“Mutated rats never appear alone. If there’s one nearby, that means there are many more around. We need to seal all the doors and windows and observe what’s happening outside.”
