Awakened Housewife Ignore Betrayer's Begs (Scarlett) novel Chapter 113

Chapter 113 Nolan’s Test

Scarlett was nearly finished documenting the medical records when she inadvertently overheard several colleagues exchanging hushed whispers.

“Have you

you heard? That brilliant doctor who was dismissed recently has been formally blacklisted from the medical community. They’re even discussing revoking his master’s and doctoral degrees-this will become a permanent mark on his professional record.”

“What did he actually do to warrant such severe consequences?”

“Rumors suggest he accepted bribes during practice, raised illegal funds, and operated questionable side businesses. That’s why the authorities are coming down so hard.”

“Well, perhaps he deserved it then.”

Hearing this disturbing gossip, Scarlett immediately opened Twitter.

Unsurprisingly, Nolan’s expulsion from the medical field was trending as the top topic.

Beneath mountains of malicious comments, she discovered one post actually defending Nolan.

[I’ve met Dr. Huntley previously. He performed my mother’s brain tumor surgery, and this year marks her second anniversary post-operation. She’s thriving. Dr. Huntley was exceptionally approachable, never requested bribes, and when I attempted to offer a gratitude gift, he refused and advised me to use the funds for my mother’s recovery medications.]

Scarlett was preparing to respond to this supportive comment when, upon accessing the reply screen, a notification appeared, “This comment has been deleted.”

She attempted to search for the account from memory, but it had vanished entirely.

Undoubtedly, the individual who had spoken in Nolan’s defense had been silenced.

The first person Scarlett suspected was Daniel.

Vincent remained preoccupied with his romantic interests and wouldn’t concern himself with matters involving Scarlett, leaving Daniel as the only other person possessing both the motive and capability to orchestrate this.

Additionally, he and Nolan shared prior history.

Growing concerned about Nolan’s wellbeing, Scarlett sent him a message, “Are you managing alright?”

But after dispatching it, she received no response. Not even by her shift’s conclusion.

Deciding she couldn’t remain passive, Scarlett drove directly to Nolan’s apartment complex to verify his condition.

However, upon arrival, she immediately recognized something was terribly wrong. Numerous individuals were directing cameras toward one specific location, capturing photographs incessantly.

Following their focus, she identified Nolan’s residence. The windows were completely shattered, glass fractured into intricate spiderweb patterns. A foul odor assaulted her senses- someone had thrown filth at Nolan’s home.

As the pungent stench of the filth splashed across Nolan’s door hit them, they saw the walls defaced with graffiti sprayed in red.

“Rot in hell, scum.”

“Angel of Death.”

“Worthless piece of trash.”

“Hope you get cancer.”

“Your family is next.”

The messages were venomous enough to make anyone’s skin crawl.

Who knew what additional dangers might be lurking in the shadows?

Scarlett didn’t dare enter to search for Nolan. She simply messaged him. “If you’re inside, remain there. If you’re not, don’t return for several days.”

Still no reply materialized.

Scarlett didn’t linger. She drove directly to Daniel’s preferred restaurant.

Fortune favored her-Daniel’s distinctive vehicle was parked outside.

Storming into the establishment, Scarlett found Daniel dining with an exquisitely dressed, stunning woman.

Scarlett disregarded everything else. She marched directly to Daniel’s table and demanded, “You orchestrated this against Nolan, didn’t you?”

Daniel set down his cutlery, dabbed his lips meticulously with a napkin, then leaned back and regarded Scarlett with a raised eyebrow. “Indeed, it was me.”

Scarlett clenched her fists, glaring at him intensely. “You’re utterly despicable.”

Daniel merely shrugged. “When you’re outmatched, you must accept defeat gracefully.”

Scarlett’s fury intensified, her voice sharpening. “All you’ve accomplished is leveraging privilege to crush someone beneath you. What merit exists in that? Daniel, were I in your position, I’d feel profound self-disgust. If you hold grievances against me, confront me directly.”

Daniel’s eyebrows lifted slightly. “He defended you. Anyone I find objectionable, I’ll grind into dust until nothing remains.”

Scarlett felt powerless against his influence. “Daniel, you’d better hope you never require assistance from others.”

Daniel crossed his legs and smiled condescendingly. “I regret to inform you that circumstance will never arise. Even should it occur, I’d seek aid only from Vincent or Sabrina.”

Scarlett emitted several cold laughs, offered no further commentary, and departed.

She knew Daniel was responsible, yet could implement no effective countermeasures.

In Rivergate, aside from Vincent and Damian, Daniel and Harris wielded the greatest influence.

With the exception of Damian, the remaining factions remained intricately interconnected.

Targeting Daniel essentially meant declaring war against Vincent and Harris simultaneously.
