“Baby, when I lose control, I make Vincent look tame. Trust me, you don’t want to see that side

of me.”

With that, Damian opened his eyes and turned to study Scarlett’s reaction.

She remained silent, but the tension in her brow betrayed her unease.

A low chuckle escaped him as he sat up. Noticing her disheveled clothes-nearly revealing more than intended-he fought back a surge of desire. Casually adjusting her collar, he smirked. “Your lips are something else, baby. Next time we meet, they’d better be even softer.”

His bold flirtation, combined with the warmth of his breath against her skin, sent shivers through her.

She stiffened, ready to push him away, but he was already stepping out of the car.

Leaning against the doorframe, his grin was pure trouble and charm. He blew a kiss toward Scarlett inside. “Don’t forget to think about me, baby. Make sure I’m in your dreams, got it?”

Vincent came across the news article about Damian and his alleged girlfriend just as he finished reviewing a stack of medical journals.

Seeing the trending headline, he instinctively clicked on it.

Vincent wasn’t one for celebrity gossip, but something about this story caught his attention tonight. The reporter had gone with a provocative title. “Damian’s Steamy Car Makeout With Mystery Girlfriend.”

The photos were blurry and didn’t clearly show the woman’s face, but something about her silhouette and clothing felt familiar.

He frowned, a thought forming in his mind-could that be Scarlett?

Before he could dwell on it, Sabrina came down the stairs.

“Vincent, what’s got you so focused?” she asked as she walked over and settled beside him on the couch.

Quietly, Vincent set his phone aside. He looked up at her, a soft smile touching his lips. “Nothing important.”

Then he asked, “Is Vanessa asleep already?”

Sabrina nodded. “Yeah, she was exhausted from all the playing. Fell asleep right after her bath.”

“And your mom? Did she turn in for the night too?”

Sabrina replied, “Yeah, everyone’s asleep now.”

Vincent studied Sabrina’s face-clean and natural, with delicate features and smooth skin. Even without makeup, she was strikingly pretty.

Lately, though, she’d been looking worn out.

It tugged at his heart. “You should get some rest too. You’ve been carrying a lot these past few days.”

Hearing that, Sabrina’s eyes welled up. She lowered her head, tears tracing down her cheeks. “Vincent… thank you.”

Seeing her cry stirred something in him. He reached out, gently wiping her tears away. “Hey, what’s this for? Why the tears?”

Sabrina leaned into him, burying her face against his chest, her voice muffled. “You always show up right when I need you most.”

Vincent wrapped his arms around her, one hand softly stroking her back. “It’s what I should do. No need to thank me.”

But the more he comforted her, the harder she cried. So he just held her, his fingers gently threading through her soft, fine hair.

After a while, Sabrina’s crying eased. Her voice was hoarse as she spoke, “Vincent, I’ll find a place for my mom to stay soon.”

Vincent gently pulled back just enough to look down at her. “Once your mom moves to Rivergate, she can stay at Ravenshade Villa. Vanessa adores her, and it’ll be easier for you to manage everything in one place.”

Sabrina still seemed hesitant. “But…”

Vincent cut her off gently but firmly. “It’s settled. Now go get some rest. Once we’re back in Rivergate, you’ll have to catch up on all the classes you’ve missed.”

Finally, Sabrina offered a small smile. “Okay, I will.”

Vincent smiled tenderly back and motioned for her to head upstairs.

Sabrina turned and made her way up, lingering just a moment before disappearing from view.

But once she was out of Vincent’s sight, a faint, almost scornful smirk flickered across her face.

After she left, Vincent picked up his phone again and reopened the trending article. The more he studied the photos, the more certain he felt-that really was Scarlett.

He needed to be sure. He tapped her contact and started a video call.

The call connected, but no one answered. He tried three times-each attempt ending the same

way.

Finally, he called Lily instead.

“Mr. Stewart?”

Vincent asked, “Is Scarlett home?”

Lily replied, “Mrs. Stewart left earlier after she found out Ms. Stewart wasn’t at Ravenshade Villa. She hasn’t come back since.”

There was a short silence before Vincent responded, “I see.”

After hanging up, Vincent held his phone, lost in thought.

The Scarlett he used to know was so warm, always smiling at him, never forgetting to check in.

But lately, she hadn’t been calling him at all.

Even when she did, it was only ever about Vanessa.

Something was definitely off about her recently.
