Could it be… Was she actually getting involved with Damian?

Meanwhile, Scarlett had just finished her shower and stepped out of the bathroom. She stood still for a long moment, staring down at the bracelet on her wrist.

Not wanting to disturb Clara, she had left her phone on silent-and in doing so, missed every one of Vincent’s video calls.

Even when she saw the notifications later, she didn’t feel like calling back.

Before bed, she instinctively opened a social media app. The very first post tagged “Someone you may know”.

Looking closer, Scarlett realized it was Sabrina’s account.

in her feed was

Sabrina had posted a picture of herself being held in someone’s arms-only the person’s shoulder and jaw were visible.

Scarlett didn’t need to examine the details to recognize Vincent instantly.

The caption was as cloying as ever. “You’re always there when I need you the most. Your embrace feels like home. Vincent, I love you.”

That single post killed Scarlett’s mood completely. She tossed her phone aside.

But that night, she tossed and turned, barely managing to fall asleep as dawn approached.

The next day was Sunday. Scarlett took Clara to an amusement park and didn’t return home until after 5

p.m.

Violet and Diana were already in the kitchen preparing dinner.

After the meal, the whole family went out for a walk.

Then, abruptly, Scarlett’s phone rang. It was Claire-someone she hadn’t heard from in a while.

Answering the call, Claire’s calm voice came through. “Scarlett, can you come pick me up?”

Scarlett wasn’t sure what was going on, but she wouldn’t say no to Claire.

Without overthinking it, she agreed. “Okay, send me the address.”

After hanging up, Claire sent the location-it was a bar.

When Scarlett arrived, she found Claire sitting with Elias and his friends.

Claire was quict in the corner, looking completely out of place with Elias’ crowd.

As Scarlett pushed open the private room door and stepped inside, Claire stood up and turned off the blaring music and the shifting, colorful lights.

Elias frowned, his face full of irritation. “Claire, what are you doing?”

About half an hour earlier, just as Claire had arrived at the private room door, she’d overheard the conversation inside.

“Elias, you and Claire have been together for eight years. When are you two getting married?”

“Get married? Her parents haven’t even bothered to come talk to me properly about it. How are we supposed to get married? You expect me to pay for some fancy wedding? She’s been around,

know. Is she even worth all that? If her family doesn’t step up, I’m not bringing it up. She’s comfortable, why ruin a good thing? I’ll commit if I feel like it. If not, I’ll just find some sweet twenty-year-old college girl to settle down with. Either way, I don’t lose.”

A round of laughter erupted in the room, followed by flattery. “Elias, you sure know how to play it cool!”

Claire stood outside the door, biting her lip so hard it nearly bled, forcing herself not to shed a single tear.

A long moment later, she finally knocked and walked in.

Looking at the smiling faces in the room, she felt nothing but disgust.

Claire held her temper and quietly took a seat in the corner.

Elias ignored her the entire time, and she didn’t reach out to him either. Instead, she texted Scarlett.

She thought it was finally time to end things—and having Scarlett here would serve as a witness to the finale.

The atmosphere in the private room grew tense. Scarlett quietly moved to stand beside Claire.

Claire’s act of turning off the music and lights had angered Elias, and he immediately lost his temper.

The whole room fell silent.

Claire stood there, her gaze toward Elias calm and detached.

When she spoke, her voice was low. “Elias, have you been happy, being with me?”

Elias sensed something different about Claire. She never brought up their relationship in front of others.

But here she was, asking so casually.

He paused, momentarily setting aside his annoyance about the music and lights.

“Yeah, I’ve been happy. What about it?” he said, his tone laced with reluctance.

Claire’s eyes instantly reddened, but she gave a faint smile. “But Elias, I’m not happy anymore.”

She could forgive Elias for cheating, even for yelling at her. But she couldn’t forgive his attitude toward her parents.

How dare he say that her parents needed to beg him for him to marry her?

If that was the case, Claire would rather never get married in her life.

Standing nearby, Scarlett could sense Claire’s resolve the quiet, unyielding strength of someone who had finally reached their limit.
