Chapter 182 Family Pretense.
After saying goodbye to Nolan, Scarlett walked over to Vincent’s car and got inside.
Once seated, she didn’t waste any time. “Let’s talk at the Oakland Villa. It’s quieter there.”

Hearing her bring up the divorce the moment she got in, Vincent couldn’t help but frown. His gaze sharpened as he studied her.
Feeling uneasy under his intense scrutiny, Scarlett asked, “What is it?”
“Grandpa wants us to go back for dinner,” Vincent explained. “I came to pick you up. He said it’s to make up for your birthday.”
Scarlett was taken aback, then quickly followed up, “How long until the divorce agreement is ready?”
“I’ve already given the instructions,” Vincent replied.
Then, staring intently into her eyes, he asked, “Are you in a hurry?”
Scarlett didn’t avoid his gaze. She met it directly and answered honestly, “Yes.”
Vincent paused. As he lowered his eyes, he noticed the bracelet on her wrist-the one Damian had won at the auction. Now it was on her wrist.
He thought she must be asking for a divorce because of Damian. But it didn’t really matter. He had never loved her anyway.
Before Vincent could say anything more, his phone rang. It was Xavier.
Answering the call, he heard Xavier’s impatient voice. “You rascal, have you picked up Scarlett yet?”
Vincent replied, “Yes, I have.”
Xavier urged, “Then hurry back. Everyone’s waiting for you.”
Vincent acknowledged and hung up.
After putting his phone away, he turned to Scarlett again. “Once the divorce agreement is drafted, I’ll find time to contact you to sign it.”
Scarlett knew the divorce couldn’t be rushed, especially in a family like Vincent’s. With a child involved and so many ties to consider, she simply agreed, “Hmm.”

Seeing her acceptance, Vincent added, “For now, let’s go back for dinner.”
With that, he started the car and drove off.
The ride to the Stewart Manor was spent in silence.
Thinking of Xavier, Scarlett felt a pang of guilt.

Most people might accept their divorce, but Xavier was different. He genuinely wanted Scarlett and Vincent to stay together forever.
Their marriage had happened largely because Xavier had strongly pushed for it.
Back then, Scarlett had been deeply grateful to him and had always treated him with warmth and respect.
After the wedding, Xavier had treated her like his own granddaughter.
But now, getting a divorce… breaking the news to him would not be easy.
While stopped at a red light, Scarlett turned to look at Vincent. He stared straight ahead, jaw set tight, nose sharp, lips pressed thin, eyes gently closed, and thick eyelashes brushing his cheeks.
He was undeniably handsome-a face that had captivated countless people.
At one time, Scarlett had given everything for that face.
But now, it stirred nothing in her heart.
She studied him and asked, “How are you planning to explain things to Grandpa?”
Vincent glanced over. He answered plainly, “I don’t know. But he won’t agree to us divorcing.”
He wasn’t sure when it had started, but the way Scarlett looked at him had grown so distant.
After a moment’s thought, Scarlett said, “Then let’s keep it from him for now. After the divorce is finalized, you can break it to him slowly.”
Hearing this, Vincent was momentarily stunned before finally giving a quiet “Hmm.”
When they arrived at the Stewart Manor, the staff greeted them at the door.
After getting out of the car, Vincent didn’t open the door for Scarlett but went straight to the trunk.
By the time she stepped out, he had already closed it, holding a large box that appeared to be a cake.

Inside the living room, Scarlett found Richard, Amanda, and Luke were also there, though Lucy hadn’t returned.
Given Amanda’s usual temperament, she would typically make sarcastic remarks toward Scarlett. But tonight, she was unusually quiet-not only did she refrain from speaking, but she also ate her meal peacefully.
Scarlett found it strange but didn’t ask.
Once dinner began, Xavier instructed Vincent, “Vincent, serve Scarlett some food.”
Vincent responded, “I know, Grandpa.”
He placed a chicken drumstick and a piece of rib in Scarlett’s bowl.
Looking at the food piled before her, Scarlett said flatly, “Thank you.”
Luke, who happened to be sitting opposite her, couldn’t resist a sarcastic comment. “So fake!”
Hearing this, Scarlett simply gave a low, dismissive laugh.
The meal proceeded relatively peacefully, largely because Amanda didn’t pick any fights.
After everyone finished eating, the staff cleared the table.
Vincent had them bring the cake over and place it in the center. Once the candles were lit, the lights were turned off.
Xavier, sitting at the head of the table, called out to Luke, who was sitting in the corner. “Luke, stand up
and sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to Scarlett.”
