Awakened Housewife Ignore Betrayer's Begs (Scarlett) novel Chapter 189

Chapter 189 Street Observations

“Scarlett, how dare you speak to me like that! You’re asking for trouble!” Luke yelled, his face flushed with rage.

Nothing infuriated him more than being told he wasn’t manly enough.

It was bad enough when others said it, but coming from Scarlett-someone he considered beneath him—it was utterly unacceptable. She had no right.

After delivering her words, Scarlett completely ignored Luke’s roaring and Amanda’s murderous glare.

She had work to attend to; she couldn’t waste her energy on unworthy people and trivial conflicts.

Perhaps afraid Luke’s commotion would alert Xavier, Amanda didn’t let him chase after Scarlett. Instead, she said softly to him, “Luke, I’m here. I’ll make sure she pays for insulting you like that.”

Luke was still fuming. “Mom, make her pay! And we can’t just forget about her hitting me last time either.”

Amanda kept agreeing. “Okay, I’ll think of a way.”

When Scarlett arrived at the hospital, she had a colleague from her department treat her wound.

The skin on her arm was broken. Her colleague carefully disinfected and bandaged it.

Although it wasn’t a serious injury, it still slowed her down at work.

In the evening, because she had medical records to complete, she stayed an extra hour before finally leaving the hospital.

It was already past 7 p.m. Scarlett didn’t dare return to the Theron Manor. She was afraid her family would worry, and even more afraid Nathan would impulsively seek justice for her.

The Stewart and Theron families were on completely different levels. If they truly offended the Stewarts, the Therons would suffer for it.

For her family’s safety, Scarlett chose to endure.

She lied to Nathan, saying she had extra tutoring and would be back late, so they shouldn’t wait

for her for dinner.

Nathan, knowing she was preparing for the exams, didn’t question her excuse.

After her shift, Scarlett began wandering the streets.

She had no destination in mind.

Walking aimlessly, she unconsciously found herself outside an upscale restaurant.

Through the large glass windows, she saw Vincent, Vanessa, and Sabrina.

Vincent sat alone on one side, typing on his laptop-probably busy with work. Across the table, Vanessa and Sabrina sat facing each other on a sofa. They were playing some kind of game, talking and laughing, occasionally leaning in to kiss each other’s cheeks.

Vincent would look up at them from time to time, his eyes full of tenderness.

Scarlett stood on the bustling street, her right arm hanging limply, afraid to move it.

The contrast between their warmth and her own wretchedness made her heart ache with bitterness.

After a moment’s hesitation, she took out her phone. With difficulty, she typed a message with her left hand. “Is the divorce agreement ready?”

After sending it, she looked back at the scene inside the restaurant.

Vincent wasn’t looking at his phone or his computer. His attention was entirely on Vanessa and Sabrina, his gaze soft, a faint smile touching his lips.

In that moment, they looked like the perfect family of three.

Vincent didn’t reply to her message. Growing impatient, Scarlett decided to return to the Oakland Villa to retrieve the divorce agreement she had prepared earlier.

Since they were divorcing anyway, the one she had drafted should be just as valid.

When she took a taxi back to the Oakland Villa, Freya was visibly surprised to see her. “Mrs. Stewart, you’re back?”

Scarlett didn’t waste words. “Freya, where is that document I gave you before?”

Hearing this, Freya quickly replied, “Mr. Stewart asked about that agreement a couple of days ago too. But I’m old, my memory is bad, and I’m always misplacing things. When you first gave me the agreement, I accidentally misplaced it. But since Mr. Stewart asked me to find it the other day, I’ve located it. Let me get it for you now.”

Hearing Freya’s explanation, Scarlett finally understood why Vincent hadn’t signed it yet.

If Freya weren’t so forgetful, they probably would have finalized the divorce long ago.

Soon, Freya brought the agreement. The file cover was dusty.

Freya said, “Mr. Stewart kept telling me to deliver it, but I kept forgetting, so I never did.”

Scarlett took the file. “Freya, I’ll deliver it myself.”

She carefully wiped the dust off the divorce agreement and left.

When she drove to Ravenshade Villa, she parked on the roadside and didn’t go inside.

Ravenshade Villa used to be her home too, a place that held her daughter and her husband.

But now, Ravenshade Villa felt like Sabrina’s domain.

Maria was inside. Scarlett didn’t want to see that woman’s face, so she stayed in the car.

She sat there for almost an hour before Vincent’s car finally pulled up at the entrance of Ravenshade Villa.

Vincent got out of the driver’s seat and opened the rear door. He lifted Vanessa out, then turned back to help Sabrina.

After both were out, he closed the car door.

For someone usually so proud, he was now willing to lower himself-for them.
