After locking the car, Vincent and Sabrina cach took one of Vanessa’s hands, and the three of them walked together toward the entrance of Ravenshade Villa.
Just as they were about to step inside, Scarlett got out of her car and called out to their retreating figures, “Vincent.”
At the sound of her voice, not only did Vincent pause, but Vanessa and Sabrina also froze in surprise.
None of them had expected Scarlett to appear at Ravenshade Villa so late at night.
Vincent turned to look. He watched as Scarlett approached from the roadside, her expression unreadable-neither sad nor joyful.
Stopping about two or three meters away from him, she said, “Vincent, we need to talk.”
Vincent thought for a moment, then turned to Vanessa and Sabrina. “You two go in first. I’ll join you after a few words with her.”
Vanessa positioned herself slightly in front of Sabrina, her round eyes fixed intently on Scarlett. For some reason, hearing her mother’s voice had sparked a flicker of happiness in her just moments before.
But since her mom hadn’t even acknowledged her, that flicker quickly faded, replaced by a sulky disappointment.
So after Vincent told them to go inside, she let out an annoyed huff and stormed into the house.
Sabrina, seeing this, followed her quietly.
Seeing Vanessa’s reaction, Scarlett understood clearly that her daughter no longer held her in a special place in her heart.
But perhaps that no longer mattered.
Once Vanessa and Sabrina had disappeared inside, Scarlett used her left hand to offer the divorce agreement to Vincent. “This is the divorce agreement I prepared. Please take a look. If you find it acceptable, please sign it.”
Vincent stared at the file held out under the warm glow of the streetlight, feeling a subtle chill
settle in his chest.
Still, he reached out and took it.

Just as he was about to speak, Sabrina’s voice called from inside Ravenshade Villa. “Vincent, Vanessa’s stomach hurts again!”
Hearing this, Vincent moved urgently toward the entrance.
But this time, Scarlett stopped him in time. “Vincent.”
He paused once more. “I’ve got the agreement. I’ll message you after I’ve reviewed it.”
Scarlett didn’t want to wait any longer. She said quickly, “Reviewing it shouldn’t take more than a few minutes. If the terms are acceptable, we can proceed to the next step.”
Vincent thought for a moment, then opened the
agreement.
After a brief scan, he closed it again and told her, “The agreement isn’t comprehensive enough. You should wait for the one I’m having prepared. Don’t worry-once it’s done, I’ll contact you immediately to come and sign it.”
Scarlett took a deep breath. A heavy, suffocating feeling tightened in her chest.
Getting married had been so simple, but getting a divorce felt like navigating an endless maze of procedures.
She felt deeply weary but knew there was little she could say.
An uncontested divorce was still the best option. If they ended up in court, the only drag on longer.

Vincent tucked the file under his arm and walked toward Ravenshade Villa. After a couple of steps, he stopped again, turned back, and asked, “Do you want to come in?”
Scarlett refused flatly. “No need.”
Ravenshade Villa was no longer her home. Why would she step inside?
With that, she turned and left.
Vincent watched her retreating figure, vaguely sensing something off about her right arm, though he couldn’t pinpoint what it was.

When she returned to the Theron Manor, the family had already retired for the night.
Scarlett went upstairs quietly and pushed open her bedroom door.

She didn’t turn on the light right away. After closing the door, she leaned against it and let out a long, weary sigh.
The drawn-out divorce process had been draining her lately.
Even though Vincent had agreed to the divorce, progress was painfully slow.
They hadn’t even finalized the divorce agreement yet.
But no matter how impatient she felt, she couldn’t force the pace.
After steadying her emotions, she reached for the light switch, but her hand brushed against something warm.
Startled, she instinctively stepped back.
But in the next moment, a pair of strong arms pulled her back, pressing her firmly against the door.
The familiar scent of cigarettes filled her senses. She struggled and hissed, “Damian, let me go.”
He leaned in closer, his breath warm against her face like glowing embers.
She turned her face away, and his exhale brushed against her neck.
Damian didn’t speak. His hand moved to grip her arm, but the moment he made contact, she let out a sharp, pained gasp. “Sss…”
Hearing her pain, he released her instantly.
He flipped on the light, took her arm gently to examine it, and asked with concern, “What’s wrong?”
Scarlett tried to pull her arm back, her expression cold. “I’m fine.”
Not wanting to hurt her further, Damian let go when he saw her resistance.
Before he could ask anything else, Scarlett’s phone rang.
She retrieved it with her left hand. Damian noticed how carefully she was protecting her right arm-and he also saw the caller ID on her screen-Vincent.
