Nolan’s clear, pleasant voice came through. “Scarlett, would you like to have dinner tonight?”
Scarlett was puzzled. “Nolan, why? Is something happening?”
She instinctively wondered if it was his birthday. Come to think of it, she actually didn’t know when his birthday was.
Nolan said, “I’d like to take you out for a good-luck dinner.”
Hearing “good luck”, Scarlett understood immediately.
Tomorrow was the graduate school entrance exam. Nolan wanted to wish her well.
After a moment’s thought, she didn’t refuse. “Alright.”
Hearing her agreement, Nolan chuckled. “I’ll pick you up after work. Just send me your location.”
“Okay.”
Scarlett agreed without hesitation.
After hanging up, before she could put her phone away, Damian leaned in. The corner of his mouth lifted in that familiar, roguish smirk. “Darling, I could give you some encouragement too, you know.”
Scarlett sensed he was up to no good, so she didn’t ask what kind of “encouragement” he meant. She just said flatly, “No need.”
She tried to walk past him, but Damian suddenly leaned close to her ear, his warm breath fanning her skin. “Being full is one thing, but if certain… other needs aren’t met, that’s not good either.”
Scarlett caught his meaning. Angrily, she retorted, “Damian, you’re awful.”
She tried to hit him, but he caught her hand easily, pulling her into his arms.
His large hand settled at her waist as he said with a teasing grin, “It’s not like I’m a stranger to you.”
Scarlett struggled, trying to free her arm, but it was useless.

Finally, she gave up.

She looked helplessly at him and let out a long sigh. “Vincent will be here soon. I need to go back upstairs.”
Hearing this, Damian looked at her, a question in his tone. “That afraid of him?”
Scarlett was honest. “I’m afraid he won’t finalize the divorce.”
Damian hadn’t expected such directness. He was momentarily taken aback, then released her and straightened up. “Then you’d better hurry.”
Scarlett didn’t say another word, heading straight for the stairs.
But just as she was about to turn into the stairwell, Damian called out, “Darling.”
The moment he said it, Scarlett’s steps instinctively halted.
Damian, seeing she didn’t reject the endearment, smiled wider.
Even though she didn’t turn, he looked at her back and said, “Remember to think of me.”
Scarlett paused briefly, then quickly hurried away.
Any longer, and she feared her heart would grow even more tangled.
Rushing from the underground garage back up to the mall level, Scarlett was covered in a light
sweat.
Even in winter, she felt uncomfortably warm.
But as she approached the store she had been in earlier, she heard Vincent’s voice.
He was asking a sales associate, “Where is my wife?”
The associates exchanged glances.
Then a woman who seemed to be in charge stepped forward. “Sir, your wife stepped into the restroom.”
She said it without hesitation, her expression neutral.
Scarlett stood at the entrance, hearing the reply clearly.
Vincent frowned, his tone assertive. “Is that right?”

Before the associate could reply, Scarlett walked over. “What are you doing here?”
She looked at Vincent, her eyes full of confusion.

Vincent, seeing her return, offered a faint smile. “I thought you might be tired, so I came to pick you up.”
Scarlett looked at him, her expression calm. “Alright, I’m done. Let’s go back.”
In this store, there were actually clothes Scarlett liked.
But right now, she had lost all interest in shopping.
Seeing Scarlett empty-handed and ready to leave, Vincent’s eyes narrowed slightly. “Didn’t find anything at all?”
Scarlett nodded. “Nothing caught my eye.”
Hearing this, Vincent said quickly, “Then let’s look somewhere else. I’ll go with you.”
Scarlett was tired and didn’t want to shop anymore. “It’s fine.”
Vincent looked at her, then noticed her lips were unusually red.
He dropped the shopping topic and asked curiously, “What’s wrong with your mouth? Why is it so red?”
Scarlett froze, realizing her lips were still flushed from Damian’s kisses.
Of course, she couldn’t tell Vincent that.
Her eyes flickered, and she came up with an answer. “I had a slight reaction to a new lip balm. It made my lips a bit irritated.”
