Inside, the space was decorated with party streamers and pre–arranged gifts–Vincent had prepared a surprise, a special present he’d been waiting to give Scarlett. He never imagined she would simply leave with Nolan instead.
A heavy, frustrated knot tightened in Vincent’s chest. Finally, he couldn’t stop himself from calling her.
He dialed, but Scarlett didn’t answer.
He tried over a dozen more times, but she still didn’t pick up.
Vincent was teetering on the edge of an outburst, ready to erupt at any moment.
Just then, his phone rang.
He snatched it up, glancing at the screen–unexpectedly it wasn’t Scarlett. It was Sabrina.
In an instant, the faint flicker of hope in his chest was snuffed out by disappointment.
Seeing the caller, Vincent didn’t answer. He simply ended the call.
But Sabrina called right back.
Vincent kept declining; Sabrina kept calling tirelessly.
Finally, Vincent had no choice but to block her number
Only then did a strained quiet settle over the room.

Meanwhile, at Ravenshade Villa, Sabrina had called Vincent more than ten times without an answer before realizing she’d been blocked.
Frustrated and seething, she hurled her phone onto the sofa.
It bounced off the cushions and struck Vanessa on the head.
Vanessa let out a sharp cry, then clutched her head, whimpering, “Sabrina, you just-!”
Before she could finish, Sabrina snapped, “What are you yelling for? Can’t you be quiet?”
Vanessa froze, biting her lip as tears welled in her eyes.
Sabrina was already furious over Vincent ignoring her,nd Vanessa’s sniffling only ignited her anger further.
Without restraint, she lashed out, “Cry, cry, cry–is that you know how to do? Who are you trying to mourn to death?”
Vanessa was completely stunned. She stared at Sabrina, nable to believe those harsh words had come from her.
Hearing the commotion from the kitchen, Lily rushed out, hands still wet.

She hurried to Vanessa, immediately scooping the trempling girl into her arms. “Vanessa, sweetheart, let’s go upstairs and get you ready for bed, alright?”
The moment Lily held her, tears began streaming down Vanessa’s face uncontrollably, like a dam had broken.
Since Sabrina was considered the lady of the house, no matter how resentful Lily felt, she didn’t dare speak up directly. Still, she shot Sabrina a couple of sharp, dis pproving glances.
Upstairs, Vanessa’s crying grew even more frantic.
Lily held her, pacing the room and murmuring, “Vanessa, sweetie, I’m here. I’ve got you.”
Vanessa buried her face in Lily’s shoulder, sobbing until she was breathless. Between ragged hiccups, she asked, “Lily, why… why did Sabrina yell at me like that?”
Lily’s heart ached. She could only offer, “Oh, sweet girl.. Ms. Monroe isn’t your real mother. How could she ever love you the way your own mother would?”
Hearing that, Vanessa grew furious. She shouted at Lily, Lily, you’re lying! Put me down! I don’t want you to hold me anymore!”
Lily refused to let go, but Vanessa squirmed and kicked in her arms, crying all the while.
In the end, Vanessa managed to wrench herself free.
Before Lily could catch her breath, Vanessa darted out of the bedroom and raced back downstairs.
But when she reached the living room, Sabrina was already gone.
Vanessa stood frozen in the empty space, her small voice trembling. “Sabrina… did you leave me?”
The only reply was Lily’s anxious call from upstairs, “Vanessa, please don’t run like that–you’ll hurt yourself!”
Vanessa didn’t listen. She just kept whispering into the quiet room, “Sabrina…”

As the meal was winding down, both Nolan and Damian stood at the same time, each saying they needed to use the restroom,
After they left, Melinda leaned toward Scarlett, her curiosity plain. “That Damian… I really feel like I’ve seen him somewhere. Do you think I actually have?”
Scarlett furrowed her brow. She nodded slightly, then slook her head. “I’m not sure.”
But Melinda was convinced. “No, I genuinely feel like I’ve met him before. I just can’t place where.”
Scarlett ventured, “Maybe he just has one of those faces
Melinda rolled her eyes. “If a face that striking is ‘one of those faces‘, then the world must be full of gorgeous men.”
