Awakened Housewife Ignore Betrayer's Begs (Scarlett) novel Chapter 531

Then Zachary raised his voice. "Hey, Damian, Scarlett, food's ready!"

Scarlett called back, "Be right there."

She headed over toward where Zachary and the others were gathered.

Damian stood there for a second, momentarily frozen, before finally following her.

After they finished eating, everyone settled in to play cards. Damian ended up sitting next to Scarlett, and he spent the whole time cheating—sneakily passing her his good cards and slipping her bad ones into his own hand.

They were swapping cards right out in the open, practically under the noses of the other three.

So Zachary started doing the same with Claire. After they'd traded, he even shoved his worst cards over to Felix.

Which meant, naturally, that Felix became the designated loser.

Even so, Felix didn't complain. As long as everyone was having a good time, he was fine with it.

When they got tired of cards, they all gathered around the campfire to sing and dance.

Scarlett was, admittedly, not the most coordinated person, and her singing wasn't exactly pitch-perfect either. But after some encouragement from Zachary, she gave in and sang a couple of songs.

Hearing her belt out tune after completely off-key tune, Damian didn't show even a hint of amusement or judgment. If anything, his expression was one of pure affection.

Before they knew it, evening had slipped up on them, and the sky was starting to darken.

Scarlett was just about to suggest they start heading back down the mountain when Zachary spoke up. "Hey, we've got the camping gear and portable heaters with us anyway. Today's been awesome, and tomorrow's Sunday. What do you guys think about spending the night up here? I checked the forecast—it's supposed to be clear tonight. We'll probably get a good view of the stars. Then we can watch the sunrise together tomorrow morning. How does that sound?"

Zachary had barely finished his pitch when Felix was the first to chime in. "Eric's with the babysitter, so I'm good either way."

Claire glanced at Zachary, thought about it for a moment, then nodded. "Yeah, I'm okay with it too."

That just left Scarlett and Damian. Everyone's attention shifted to them.

Feeling the weight of their stares, Damian turned to look at Scarlett. But his next words were directed at the group behind her. "I'll go with whatever Scarlett wants."

And honestly, it wasn't his call to make anyway. They'd agreed earlier that today they'd talk things through over coffee once they got up the mountain.

Now Damian was putting the decision back in her hands. Scarlett blinked, surprised, then lifted her gaze to meet one pair of expectant eyes after another.

Everyone had genuinely had a good time today. And the weather couldn't have been more perfect—above them, stars were already beginning to flicker faintly in the darkening sky.

Not wanting to be the one to kill the vibe, Scarlett finally gave in. "Alright," she said. "Let's camp out up here."

The moment she agreed, Zachary's face lit up. But even more than that, a wide, genuine smile spread across Damian's face.

Right after she'd said yes, Scarlett's phone rang.
