Awakened Housewife Ignore Betrayer's Begs (Scarlett) novel Chapter 602

At that moment, Damian stepped forward, a smirk clearly visible on his face. He leveled his gaze at Vincent and said coolly, "Even if you won't give her a divorce, so what? I don't mind being the other guy. If you're fine with it, then I'm fine with it."

He let out a short, arrogant laugh after the words left his mouth.

Vincent watched him laugh, his own face utterly expressionless. His voice was flat when he finally asked, "And you think you're any better? She follows you with no commitment, no title—when the rumors start flying, who do you think gets called the shameless one? You? Or her?"

The moment the words landed, Damian's expression hardened.

He instinctively turned his head to look at Scarlett.

Catching the flicker of unease on Damian's face, Vincent allowed himself a small, humorless smile. "What's the matter? Scared already? If you're going to make things difficult for me, why should I make things easy for you?"

His gaze shifted back to Scarlett. He stared at her for a long, heavy moment without saying a word.

Then, without another sound, Vincent turned and walked out of the hospital room.

After he left, the tension in the room lingered, thick and stifling.

Harris glanced at Scarlett once or twice before finally speaking. His voice was careful, almost apologetic. "Ms. Theron, Vincent... he just doesn't know how to show what he feels. Deep down, he doesn't actually want to hurt you. The things he said... try not to take them too personally."

Scarlett didn't answer. Harris let out a quiet, helpless sigh before hurrying out after Vincent.

Damian stood beside the hospital bed, looking down at her. For a long moment, neither of them spoke.

Vincent's words had struck a nerve—exactly where it hurt most.

He'd always told himself he didn't mind being the other man. He could take the judgment, the whispers. But what about her? What if Scarlett became the one people talked about?

Rumors had a way of eating away at you. At first, you could pretend they didn't matter. But over time? That was a different story.

With his position, Damian could try to shut some of it down, bury the worst of it. But there were no guarantees. And Vincent was right—when it came down to it, Scarlett would be the one catching the worst of it.

Damian's eyes held something raw as he looked at her now—a mix of pain and guilt.

Neither of them said a word.

After Vincent left the room, Harris caught up with him right away.

In the elevator, Harris stayed quiet, but he could feel the tension rolling off Vincent. He knew whatever was going on inside that head of his, it wasn't good.

When the elevator doors opened to the parking garage, Vincent didn't move.

Harris watched him stand there, frozen, then reached out and guided him out of the elevator.
