Awakened Housewife Ignore Betrayer's Begs (Scarlett) novel Chapter 603

As he drove, Vincent kept one hand on the wheel while the other fished a cigarette from the pack and lit it. Harris' words circled endlessly in his mind, tangled up with the image of Damian leaning in to kiss Scarlett.

His chest felt tight, like something heavy was pressing down on it.

Once he cleared the hospital parking lot, Vincent rolled down the window.

The wind rushed in, tousling his hair and messing with his head even more.

Maybe it was the smoke, but his eyes felt raw, almost wet.

Thinking about Scarlett led him back to what Harris had said.

Him? In love with her?

No way.

Ridiculous.

But if that wasn't it, then why did the thought of divorcing her bother him so much?

After Vincent left, Scarlett slumped against the bed rail, completely drained, staring blankly at nothing.

Damian sat down on the edge of the bed. He wanted to reach for her hand, but Vincent's words made him hesitate, his hand pulling back at the last second.

He could handle being the villain in everyone else's eyes. But Scarlett? She didn't deserve that.

When he looked up at her again, he noticed her eyes were red, glistening with unshed tears.

Alarmed, he quickly said, "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said what I said back there. That was out of line."

Scarlett pressed her lips together and shook her head gently. "It's not your fault. Even if today hadn't happened, he still wouldn't let me go easily."

The mandatory waiting period for the divorce had been over for a while now. Scarlett wasn't blind—she'd noticed Vincent dragging his feet at every turn.

Damian looked at her, concern etched into his features. "Don't worry. I'll be here with you. If he won't agree to the divorce, we'll take him to court. We've got Felix—he's one of the best family lawyers in the city, and he doesn't lose. We'll have him handle it."

Scarlett wiped her eyes and gave Damian a small, grateful smile. "Thank you."

Seeing her like that, so open and warm with him, Damian almost reached out to pull her into a hug.

But Vincent's words echoed in his head again, stopping him cold.

He held back. He'd wait—until she was officially free—before making any real move.

On the drive back to Ravenshade Villa, Vincent pushed the car hard.

What usually took thirty minutes took him barely twenty.

Once he pulled through the gates, his steps were quick and heavy as he headed inside.

The living room was empty. Lily was probably out running errands.

She lifted her hands, wrapping them around him, and kissed him back.

Feeling her respond, Vincent's body tensed for a moment.

But then the image of Damian kissing Scarlett flashed through his mind again, and he pushed forward, deepening the kiss.

His hands worked to undress her.

By the time she was down to just her thin undershirt, he had her legs wrapped around his waist, lifting her and carrying her to the bed.

As he leaned over her, he shrugged off his jacket.

Sabrina lay beneath him on the large bed, her cheeks flushed, her eyes hazy with emotion.

Just as Vincent started to lower his head again, Sabrina reached up and clasped her hands behind his neck.

She lifted herself slightly, taking the lead—kissing his neck, his ear, then trailing her lips down to his collarbone.

But the more she initiated, the more Vincent seemed to pull back.

Until her hand drifted lower—and then, with a sudden jolt, he pushed her away.

Sabrina fell back hard against the mattress. Dazed, she stared up at the ceiling, her vision blurring.

Turning her head, she saw Vincent already sitting on the edge of the bed.
