Awakened Housewife Ignore Betrayer's Begs (Scarlett) novel Chapter 616

Even though Scarlett knew Vincent was deliberately making things difficult, she forced herself to stay calm. "Drop the charges against my brother."

Vincent gave her a mocking look. "Why would I do that? Do I strike you as the forgiving type?"

Scarlett's voice tightened. "Then what do you want? What do you actually want from me?"

Vincent turned his attention back to the television, clicking through channels without really watching. His focus was clearly elsewhere. "I already told you. I want him to face the consequences."

Hearing the same cold response, Scarlett tried to reason with him. "Vincent, if you have a problem with me, take it out on me. Leave my brother out of it."

As if she hadn't spoken at all, he repeated, "I said, I want him to face the consequences."

When he reached her, he looked down, studying her face without a word.

After a long moment, he pulled a hundred-dollar bill from his pocket and flicked it at her. It fluttered through the air and landed against her cheek before drifting to the floor. "That's for your ride home. Get out."

Scarlett flinched as the bill touched her face, then stared at it on the ground. Slowly, she lifted her gaze back to him. "When my parents came to see you—is that how you treated them, too?"

Vincent didn't hesitate. "Yes."

Her hands clenched into fists in her lap. "You're absolutely despicable."

Vincent shrugged, completely indifferent. "Think whatever you want."

He turned away and raised his voice. "Lily!"

Lily emerged from the first-floor staff room. "Yes, Mr. Stewart?"

He was already heading for the stairs. "Show our guest out."

When Lily's eyes met Scarlett's, they were full of pity.

But her hands were tied. She gave a small, helpless gesture. "Mrs. Stewart..."
