Chapter 65 Damian’s Proposal
By the time Scarlett returned to the temporary hospital dormitory, the clock had already struck ten.

After completing her nightly routine, she lay down on the narrow single bed, idly scrolling through short videos on her phone.
But her mind was restless, a tangled mess of thoughts she couldn’t quiet.
No matter how she turned the problem over in her head, only one viable solution emerged to resolve Nolan’s predicament-she would have to swallow her pride and ask Vincent for help.
But the very idea rankled. Why should she? She and Nolan hadn’t done anything wrong.
Since that single, distasteful option felt unacceptable, she began formulating another plan.
If she couldn’t appeal to Vincent, then perhaps she could turn to his greatest rival.
In Rivergate, only one man had the power and audacity to pull this off for her-Damian Langley.
Yet, approaching Damian was like dancing with the devil-it would likely entangle her in even greater troubles down the line.

Still, after carefully weighing the risks, Scarlett concluded that dealing with Damian was the lesser of two evils.
She pushed herself upright in bed and dialed his number.
To her astonishment, Damian answered almost immediately.
“Well, well, babe. Miss me already?” His lazy, teasing voice drifted down the line, underscored by the thumping bass of loud music in the background.
Damian’s reputation preceded him. Everyone knew he was a wild card, a notorious playboy whose roster of women seemed endless-he changed girlfriends as casually as other men changed shirts.
He had a way of speaking to every woman as if she were the only one in the world, as if he were utterly, desperately in love.
His penetrating gaze had a habit of making anyone he looked at feel like the object of his deepest affection.
He had even flirted shamelessly with Scarlett in the past, going so far as to declare that if she weren’t married to Vincent, he would marry her himself.
But Scarlett knew better than to take his words at face value. She had never believed a single honeyed line that left his lips.
Accustomed to his brand of nonsense, she cut straight to the chase. “I need to talk to you.”
The background music on his end faded slightly, as if he’d moved somewhere quieter. “What’s on your mind? Finally realized I’m the only one who knows how to treat a woman right?” he queried.
Scarlett replied evenly, “Damian, I’ve always considered you a friend.”

Regardless of the bitter rivalry between Vincent and Damian, Scarlett had consciously never taken sides.
Damian had helped her out in the past, and she hadn’t forgotten his kindness. In fact, he’d come to her aid more than once.
Damian let out an exaggerated, wistful sigh, his smooth baritone resonating through the phone. “You need a favor, don’t you?”
Scarlett was momentarily taken aback. “How did you know?”
She hadn’t even hinted at her request, yet he had pinpointed the reason for her call with unnerving accuracy.
Damian chuckled softly. “I’ll help you, but I don’t want anything in return… except you.” For once, his tone held a thread of genuine seriousness, devoid of its usual mockery.
Scarlett had heard this particular line from him more times than she could count.
But she simply couldn’t comply.
“In that case, let’s pretend I never called,” she stated flatly.
Scarlett understood perfectly well that Damian was never short of female company. What likely intrigued him was precisely the fact that she was Vincent’s wife.
She was about to end the call when Damian’s voice stopped her. “You know, if you ask me, I’d move mountains for you.”
Scarlett paused, then decided to test the waters. “Even if it means going directly against Vincent?”
Damian didn’t miss a beat. “Why not? We’re already sworn enemies.”
Scarlett responded with a cool, dismissive laugh. “Forget it. I doubt you’d truly commit to opposing him over this.”
Damian’s laughter grew louder. “Trying to use reverse psychology on me? It won’t work, darling.”
Scarlett offered a calm, faint laugh in return. “Alright then. I’m hanging up.”
Just as her finger hovered over the end call button, Damian interjected, “How about we meet? Face to face.”
Scarlett initially declined. “I’m busy tonight. Perhaps another time.”
Damian’s next words stunned her. “I’m in town.”
Scarlett was confused. “What did you say?”
Damian repeated patiently, “I mean I’m here. In the same little backwater town as you.”
Scarlett hesitated, weighing her limited options. Finally, she relented. “Okay.”
If she truly wanted to help Nolan, this seemed to be her only shot.

As soon as she descended the steps, her eyes landed on a sleek black luxury car parked idly by the curb..
Damian was leaning casually against the vehicle, fiddling with the intricate clasp of his expensive wristwatch.
He stood there, shrouded in the darkness, his form blending seamlessly into the quiet, unassuming night of the small town.
Scarlett approached him and called out softly, “Mr. Langley.”
He looked up at the sound of her voice, his eyes giving her a quick, appreciative once-over before he spread his arms wide and strode toward her.
Before Scarlett could react or step back, he enveloped her in a strong, unexpected embrace.
“It’s been too long, Scarlett. Missed me, haven’t you?” Damian’s chin rested lightly on top of her head, his face breaking into a triumphant, self-satisfied smile.
Not far away, concealed within the shadows, a man dressed in black discreetly recorded the entire encounter on his phone.
Once satisfied with the footage, he secretly sent the video directly to Daniel.
Elsewhere, the moment Daniel received the video, he was in a meeting with Vincent and Harris, discussing the details of a new project.
After watching the short clip, Daniel looked up at Vincent, his face a mask of sheer incredulity.
Vincent, noticing his friend’s startled expression, asked coolly, “What is it?”
Daniel rose and squeezed himself onto the sofa between Vincent and Harris, then wordlessly played the incriminating video for Vincent to see.
As Vincent’s eyes took in the scene, Daniel leaned in and asked, utterly baffled, “Bro, tell me the truth. You not satisfying her in bed or something? Does she really need two guys at once now to get her kicks?”
