Chapter 66 The Cuckolding Question
Finished
After Vincent finished watching the video, his face remained an impassive mask, betraying none of the tempest raging within him.
Compounding his turmoil was Daniel’s crass remark, which involuntarily dragged his thoughts back to the intimate moments-or lack thereof-between him and Scarlett.
To be brutally honest, describing their sex life as “incompatible” would be a generous understatement. He rarely lasted more than three minutes.
It wasn’t a matter of physical inability. Rather, he was always so eager to be done with it, to fulfill the obligation and quickly extricate himself to return to Sabrina and Vanessa.
Seeing Vincent remain silent for so long, Daniel’s curiosity only intensified. “Seriously, man, tell me the truth. Were you really not able to satisfy her in bed?”
Vincent looked up, his gaze sharp enough to cut glass as he shot Daniel a withering glare. He didn’t utter a single word, but the sheer intensity of his silent reproach was potent enough to silence anyone.
Daniel promptly mimed zipping his lips shut.
Yet, his innate nosiness got the better of him. He leaned in conspiratorially and asked again, “But for real, after all this, you’re still not considering divorce?”
Vincent rolled his eyes with palpable irritation. “No.”
His refusal wasn’t rooted in love for Scarlett. It stemmed from what Vanessa had expressed that day-her desperate desire to have both her parents, and Sabrina, loving her.
A divorce would shatter that fragile hope, leaving Vanessa without the complete family unit she craved.
Daniel simply couldn’t fathom Vincent’s logic. He opened his mouth to probe further, but Harris grabbed his arm firmly. “Man, just let it go. No one’s saying you can’t talk, but maybe you should know when to stop.”
Daniel was even more bewildered. “What’s wrong with what I said? Vincent doesn’t even have feelings for Scarlett, and now that woman is openly cheating. Why hold on? What are you waiting for?”
Harris tried to reason with him. “This is Vincent’s personal matter to resolve. Scarlett is still Vanessa’s mother. Just drop it.”
Daniel’s face flushed with frustration, “Harris, whose side are you on? Do you actually enjoy watching your best friend get cuckolded like this?”
Harris fell silent, at a loss for words.
Vincent had heard more than enough. A low growl rumbled in his chest. “Enough. Both of you, shut up.”
With that final command, he stood up abruptly and strode out of the private room,
Daniel made a move to follow him, but Harris held his arm in a vice-like grip. “Could you use your brain for once in your life?”

“Oh, so you’re the one with a brain and I’m not? Fine. Whatever.”
Harris shot Daniel a look of pure exasperation. “You are utterly hopeless.”
Then, he too turned and left the room.

Finished.
When Vincent arrived at Ravenshade Villa, he found Vanessa still awake, sitting in the living room and snacking on fruit while sipping milk.
The moment she saw him enter, she slipped into her little slippers and came running over. “Daddy!”
Vincent bent down and gently stroked her soft cheek. “Why are you still up so late?”
“I was waiting for you to come home, Daddy,” Vanessa replied, her voice sweet.
Vincent picked her up and carried her upstairs.
Vanessa wrapped her small arms tightly around his neck. With a child’s intuition, she sensed something was amiss. “Daddy, what’s wrong? Are you upset?” she asked quietly.
Vincent was silent for a long moment before finally asking, “Has your mom called you recently?”
At the mention of Scarlett, Vanessa’s little head drooped. “Mom hasn’t called me in a very long time. When I call her, she either doesn’t answer, or if she does, she says she’s busy and can’t talk.”
Hearing the palpable disappointment in his daughter’s voice sent a peculiar, sharp ache through Vincent’s chest. He could only reply softly, “I see.”
After carrying Vanessa back to her room and tucking her into bed, Vincent said, “It’s time to sleep now,
Vanessa.”
Vanessa blinked her large, round eyes. “Daddy, if I go to sleep nicely like a good girl, will Mom call me tomorrow?”
Vincent didn’t have an answer for her. He simply brushed her cheek again and repeated, “Go to sleep.
“Okay,” Vanessa acquiesced, her voice small.
Only once he was sure Vanessa was sound asleep did Vincent finally leave her room.
He retreated to his study and stood before the expansive floor-to-ceiling window for what felt like an eternity.
The images from Daniel’s phone were seared into his mind, playing on a relentless loop.
He and Damian had been business rivals for years, clashing countless times in both overt corporate battles and covert, underhanded schemes.
Damian was arguably the only person in the business world who could truly match him blow for blow.
Yet, fully aware that Damian was his sworn enemy, Scarlett had still chosen to associate with him.

How could Vincent not be incensed?
Regardless of the state of their marriage, she was still legally his wife.

The more he dwelled on it, the more his anger simmered. Finally, Vincent pulled out his phone and dialed Scarlett’s number directly.
The phone rang for an uncomfortably long time before she finally answered.
“What do you want?” Her tone held none of the cautious attentiveness or subdued happiness it once did when speaking to him. Now, her voice was as cold and sharp as shards of ice.
Vincent got straight to the point, his own voice tight. “What are you doing right now?”
Scarlett had no patience for his seemingly pointless inquiries. “If you have something specific to say, then say it. Otherwise, I’m hanging up.”
Vincent hesitated briefly, then grasped for the first plausible excuse that came to mind. “Vanessa said she wants the oatmeal you make for breakfast tomorrow.”
Surprisingly, Scarlett didn’t outright refuse. “I’ll call Lily and give her the recipe. Vanessa can have it when she wakes up.”
Vincent’s eyes narrowed, his angry, distorted reflection glaring back at him from the dark windowpane. His voice dropped several degrees, becoming dangerously cold. “That’s not the same thing, and you know it.”
Unbeknownst to him, on the other end of the line, Scarlett was seated in the passenger seat of Damian’s luxury car, taking his call.
