Awakened Housewife Ignore Betrayer's Begs (Scarlett) novel Chapter 662

Violet could sense Scarlett was upset, so she reached over and gave her hand a reassuring squeeze.

Just then, the emergency room lobby's curtain was pushed aside, and a hurried figure stepped in.

Scarlett turned instinctively—and there, without warning, her eyes locked with Damian's.

Before she could even process it, he was already striding toward her.

He came right up to the wheelchair, not seeming to notice Violet sitting beside her, and crouched down in front of Scarlett.

Taking her hand in his, he looked her over, his voice thick with concern. "What's wrong? Are you hurt? Why are you at the hospital so late?"

Every word was filled with such genuine worry that it caught Scarlett off guard. She just stared back, momentarily at a loss for how to respond.

Damian straightened slightly and reached for her arm. "Let me see."

He began gently checking her sleeve, as though searching for hidden injuries.

Scarlett swatted his hand away lightly, but before she could speak, Violet's calm voice cut in from the side. "She's fine, Mr. Langley. It's not her—it's someone else."

Damian glanced over at Violet, confusion flashing in his eyes. "Then who's sick? Vincent?"

Before Violet could explain, he turned back to Scarlett, a hint of irritation in his tone. "You came all the way here in the middle of the night... for another man?"

Violet almost laughed at how quickly his mind had gone there. "It's Vanessa," she said gently. "Vanessa's running a fever."

At that, Damian lifted a hand to his chest, as if steadying himself, and let out a quiet sigh of relief. "Thank God. As long as it's not you."

Violet couldn't help smiling. She rose thoughtfully and said, "I'll let you two talk. I'm going to check on your brother inside."

Without waiting for Scarlett's reply, she slipped quietly into the hospital room.

Inside, Violet found Nathan still cradling Vanessa in his arms.

Even though the little girl was fast asleep, he kept slowly pacing the room, unwilling to put her down.

Watching his unusually gentle demeanor, Violet chuckled softly, "And you still say you don't care about her?"

Nathan looked up as she entered. He paused, then replied evenly, "She's just a kid. And she's Scarlett's kid."

Violet understood what he meant, so she didn't press further. Instead, she asked, "How is she? Still feverish?"
