Awakened Housewife Ignore Betrayer's Begs (Scarlett) novel Chapter 668

He spoke with such care, his eyes gleaming like a starry sky—so captivating it was hard to look away.

Scarlett stared at him, speechless for what felt like a long while.

Finally, she managed to say, "Damian... thank you."

Hearing that, Damian smiled. He placed the little bunny-shaped cupcake into her hands and added gently, "I know you're upset about Vanessa, but none of this is your fault."

Scarlett glanced down at the dessert in her palms. Her voice came out rough. "Vanessa wasn't always like this."

Damian told her honestly, "Maybe she wasn't. But the person she is now... that's who she's become."

Scarlett paused briefly at his words, then let out a soft, bitter laugh. "You're right."

No matter how things used to be, the Vanessa of today truly resented Scarlett.

With that thought, Scarlett exhaled slowly and forced herself to sound steady. "Never mind. I don't want to dwell on it anymore."

She brushed the tears from the corners of her eyes and turned toward Damian—only to find him gazing back at her with unmistakable tenderness.

For a moment, Scarlett froze. Then she heard his voice, quiet yet hopeful. "Scarlett... do you think someday we could have a sweet little girl together?"

Instead of outright refusing, her first reaction was a flicker of curiosity. Does he not like boys?

But she shook the thought away almost immediately.

Coming back to herself, she replied firmly, "Damian, don't talk nonsense."

Damian leaned closer, earnest and sincere. "I'm serious. I even had our compatibility checked—it's a perfect match. They said we're meant to be. Marry me, and I'll make sure you're always happy, always safe. Everything in your life will fall into place..."

It wasn't entirely a line—he'd joked about things like this before to get her to smile.

But later, even though he wasn't usually one for fortune-tellers, he'd actually gone to see one. And the reader told him the same thing: he and Scarlett were written in the stars.

Scarlett didn't want to hear any more. She put on a cool expression and changed the subject. "Are we going to visit your grandmother or not?"

"Yes, of course," Damian answered quickly. "Grandma made me promise to bring my future wife to see her."

Scarlett was momentarily at a loss for words. "You—"

Noticing her annoyance, Damian mumbled under his breath, "You can't back out now. You promised you'd come with me. Besides, you already called her 'Grandma' yourself."
