Awakened Housewife Ignore Betrayer's Begs (Scarlett) novel Chapter 670

Finally, he was about to close the car door.

Scarlett quickly reached out to stop him. "Damian."

Damian paused, leaving the door slightly ajar. He glanced down at her, a question in his eyes. "Yeah?"

"Don't get hurt," she told him, her voice low but clear.

A soft chuckle escaped him. "Alright," he said quietly. "I promise I'll come back to you in one piece. Everything I said I'd do—I'll make it happen."

Seeing his hand move toward the door again, she caught the edge of his jacket. Her eyes held a silent plea. "Just... stay safe."

He gave a firm nod. "I will."

Then, gently, he closed the door.

Scarlett stayed in the back seat, watching as Damian turned to Brett. "Take Scarlett safely back to Theron Manor, then meet up with me."

"Yes, Mr. Langley," Brett replied.

"Go ahead," Damian said.

With a brief wave, he turned and walked back toward the cemetery entrance.

Once Brett slid into the driver's seat, the car pulled away.

On the ride back, a heavy sense of dread settled in Scarlett's chest.

After a stretch of silence, she finally spoke up. "What is he going to do, Brett?"

Brett kept his eyes on the road and shook his head. "I really don't know, Ms. Theron."

He paused, then added, "But his grandmother meant everything to him—just like you do. She raised him. There's no way he's letting this slide."

Scarlett's stomach tightened. "Who do you think was behind it?"

Another slow headshake from Brett. "Hard to tell right now. Mr. Langley has made his share of enemies over the years."

Scarlett didn't press further, but her hands clenched tightly in her lap.

When they reached Theron Manor, Brett escorted her inside the main hall before heading out again.

That afternoon dragged on without a word from Damian. Scarlett didn't text or call him either, but she kept hoping her phone would light up with a message from him.

After dinner, Violet suggested going out somewhere to unwind, but Scarlett declined.

Instead, she went upstairs and sat by the bedroom window, leaving it open despite the wind and falling snow outside. She made no move to shut it.

Some part of her imagined Damian appearing outside that window at any moment.
