Vincent's tone was cold and firm. "She won't be coming in."
Vanessa glanced up at him, confused. His expression was dark, not a hint of warmth in his eyes. It made her wonder—was this about all those stories online?
Earlier, while scrolling through her tablet at home, she'd seen countless posts and videos speculating about Sabrina and Daniel. People were saying their relationship wasn't just professional, that Sabrina had somehow wronged Vincent.
Now, watching him shut Sabrina out, Vanessa felt a knot form in her stomach. Maybe the rumors were getting to him after all.
The thought alone upset her. She tried to tug her hand free from his grip, but he held on tight.
"You're taking this out on her, aren't you?" Vanessa accused, her voice trembling. "Just because of what people are saying online?"
Vincent didn't respond. He simply kept hold of her hand and led her inside without looking back.
Once they were in the spacious front hall, he finally released her. Vanessa immediately turned to dart back toward the door, but Vincent stepped smoothly into her path.
"And where do you think you're going?" he asked, his voice low.
"None of your business," she shot back, chin lifted defiantly. "You're being mean. I don't want to stay here with you."
Vincent didn't move. "Go to your room. Now."
Tears welled up in Vanessa's eyes. "No! I don't want you anymore—I want Sabrina!" she cried, trying to squeeze past him.
Vincent blocked the doorway easily, his patience wearing thin.
Seeing her cry only fueled his frustration. In one swift motion, he scooped her up and placed her—not gently—onto the large sectional sofa in the living room.
Outside Ravenshade Villa, Sabrina stood on the stone steps. She could hear every word of the argument drifting through the open door. Servants had politely but firmly prevented her from entering.
Hearing how harsh Vincent sounded, Sabrina let out a bitter laugh. Even as she did, tears traced warm paths down her cheeks.
Knowing Vincent wouldn't change his mind once it was set, she didn't linger. She turned and made her way back to the neighboring estate.
Inside, Vanessa had scrambled off the couch the moment Vincent released her. Seeing him head for the staircase, she ran after him in a burst of anger, grabbed his arm, and sank her teeth into his forearm with all her strength.
