Once Scarlett made sure no one was outside her room, she quietly slipped downstairs.

After leaving Theron Manor, she flagged down a rideshare at the curb and gave the driver the address for Ravenshade Villa.

About half an hour later, the car pulled up outside the estate.

Scarlett paid the fare and stepped out into the freezing night air.

Standing there, looking at the place that used to feel like home, she suddenly felt a sharp ache settle deep in her chest.

A bitter smile crossed her face before she walked through the front gates.

There weren't many staff members working at Ravenshade Villa to begin with, and with the weather this cold, nobody was lingering outside, so Scarlett made it all the way into the house without anyone stopping her.

The second she reached the living room entrance, laughter drifted out from inside.

Through the slightly open doorway, she saw Vanessa sitting between Vincent and Sabrina while the three of them worked on some kind of holiday craft together.

The picture looked painfully perfect.

A happy little family laughing together beneath the warm lights of the house while snow fell outside the windows.

Scarlett stood alone in the cold wind near the doorway, letting the snow hit her coat.

Lily was standing nearby helping them, but unlike everyone else in the room, she looked completely miserable. If anything, she looked like she wanted to snap at somebody.

After forcing herself to hold it together for several more seconds, Lily decided she'd rather step outside into the cold than keep watching the scene in front of her.

But the moment she turned around, she froze.

Scarlett was standing there.

At first Lily almost thought she was imagining things. She rubbed her eyes quickly before finally realizing it really was Scarlett.

The words escaped before she could stop herself.

"Mrs. Stewart..."

Her voice cracked instantly.

Meanwhile, Sabrina heard Lily speak and instinctively assumed she was talking to her.

"What is it?" she asked casually.

But the second Sabrina looked up, she realized Lily wasn't facing her at all.

From where she sat, she could only see the outline of someone standing near the doorway.

She tilted her head slightly, trying to see around Vincent, but before she could get a better look, Vincent's cold voice cut through the room.

"Lily, how many times do I have to say this? The only Mrs. Stewart in this house is Sabrina."

Only then did Scarlett realize Vincent had noticed her the entire time.

Not wanting Lily caught in the middle of things, Scarlett pushed the door fully open and walked inside.

"You don't need to make things difficult for Lily," she said evenly. "I came here to see you."

From the moment she entered the room, Scarlett never once looked directly at Vanessa or Sabrina.

Vanessa had glanced up the second she realized Scarlett was back, but when Scarlett acted like she wasn't even there, a strange discomfort twisted in her chest.

Noticing the shift in Vanessa's mood, Sabrina immediately reached over and squeezed her hand gently.
