Madison understood that this lie of hers was useless in front of a psychiatrist.
Still, she could never tell anyone that she had lived this life once already. Even if she did, no one would believe her.
So she insisted firmly, "It was just a dream, but it felt very real."
Serene nodded and said nothing. She simply assumed Madison didn't trust her.
Madison wasn't aware of this.
Seeing Serene didn't press further, Madison thought of her condition and took the initiative to ask, "If I start treatment now, how long will it take before I can get back to normal?"
"I can't give a timeline for that, because your condition stems from your subconscious. To treat it, you must be able to overcome it and distinguish reality from dreams. At most, I can provide medication or suggest desensitization and hypnotherapy."
Serene laid out her diagnosis, a glint flashing in her eyes.
In truth, she preferred hypnotherapy. That way, she could directly ask whatever she wanted to know.
However, she had mentioned that on purpose. It was to test Madison and see if she was hiding a secret.
At the mention of hypnosis, Madison instantly panicked. Almost without thinking, she blurted out, "No! You can't hypnotize me!"
Serene immediately confirmed her suspicion after seeing Madison's alarmed reaction—Madison was indeed hiding something from her.
She just didn't know whether it was related to Mudward Isle.
"Don't worry, Maddie. Without your permission, I would never hypnotize you," Serene assured.
Madison breathed a sigh of relief, then asked Serene to prescribe her some medication.
After getting the prescription, she had Danielle secretly go to the pharmacy to buy it. She then told Serene to go upstairs and rest for a while, and that they would call her down for lunch later.
Once they left, Madison sat alone in the study, recalling everything that had happened lately.
Johnny had been arrested, so he could be set aside for now.
