Beast Love Show: All For Her (by Sylvester Raven) novel Chapter 103

Chapter 103 Eight Ways With Goat

They’d need firewood for the winter anyway.

As for Seren, the chatty, annoying one, and Jacob, the grudgeholder, Layla didn’t keep them around. She was afraid of accidentally offending Jacob, so she sent them both out to gather dry grass instead.

“General Hartwell, you’re on hunting duty. You’re in charge of feeding everyone for the next few days. Does that work for you?”

Liam looked around the yard at everyone busy with their assigned tasks. He had to admit, hunting was probably the only thing he was good for here. “Fine.”

“What about me?” Avery looked around. Everyone had a job. Even the loudmouth Seren had been given something to do. He was the only one left standing around.

“Your job comes later. Once they bring back the materials, the rest is up to you and Prof. Slater.”

Avery wasn’t much of a talker. Now that he had a role to play, he nodded and sat down on a stool.

Everyone scattered to work. Caleb stood alone in the yard, refusing to move. Hanna wanted to leave but didn’t dare drag him away. The awkwardness was palpable.

Hanna stepped forward and tugged at Caleb’s sleeve. “Caleb, let’s stay and help too.”

“Help with what?” Caleb’s eyes bulged. “You want me to work for her? A real man doesn’t bow to anyone.”

Layla was speechless.

Caleb stormed off.

Hanna started to follow, then hesitated and turned back to look at Layla.

Layla raised an eyebrow.

If Hanna chose to stay, she wouldn’t turn her away.

But Hanna hesitated for a long moment. Caleb’s voice came from outside the gate. “Are you coming or not?”

She followed him, her eyes red.

Layla sighed softly.

Yates stood beside her and said quietly, “Everyone has their own path. She has to figure it out for herself.

You can’t do it for her.”

Layla felt torn.

Hanna would figure it out eventually. But the cost would be devastating.

“What can I do?” Emily stepped forward.

It was the first time either of them had spoken to Layla directly.

Emily was Stella’s best friend. In the original book, her attitude toward Layla wasn’t exactly friendly.

But it wasn’t hostile either. She’d never actively bullied Layla.

Talia also walked up. “Me too. I can work.”

“You two have something more important.” Layla pulled out the salt extraction device, then winced. “Well.”

“What’s wrong?” Talia tilted her head.

“We need George.” The salt came from seawater. She had the device, but they only had one bucket of seawater left. Hard to make something out of nothing.

“Now you need me!”

Layla was just wondering where to find him when George stormed in through the gate, looking annoyed.

“So are you helping or not?” Layla asked.

George shot her a dirty look and slammed a large fish onto the table. “I want this. Roast it for me.”

Layla couldn’t help smiling, “Deal.”

The tips of George’s ears turned pink. He didn’t look at her again. He grabbed the water buckets and left.

At the gate, he stopped and turned back to glare at her. “If it’s not good, I’m throwing you in the ocean.”

“Don’t worry, it’ll be delicious. Now go.”

They needed seawater.

George left.

[That’s it? He’s over it? This is the sharp-tongued, arrogant guy you’ve been telling me about?]

[Wait… this isn’t how I pictured it going.]

[What did you expect? Did you want him to suffer?]

[Not exactly. But he should at least have to work for it a little.]

With everyone so busy today, Layla decided to personally handle the big fish.

George came back from his water run to find her cleaning his fish. He didn’t say anything, but his chin lifted noticeably. He looked very pleased with himself.

Layla didn’t bother with him. Once the first batch of materials came back, Shane and Avery got to work.

Shane had mixed mud before when they built the yard wall. He knew what he was doing. Avery picked it up quickly under his lead.

The molds were tree trunks that Shane had carved earlier. The two of them shaped the adobe bricks and soon had them lined up all over the yard.
