Chapter 105 What Stella Owes
What kind of spell did Layla cast? Or was it this barren planet that gave her some kind of magic?
Almost everyone’s gaze had landed on Layla.
Before Layla even noticed anything off, Shane bristled.
“Enjoying the view?” He’d always been the cold, untouchable type. Didn’t smile much. His voice was usually cool and distant.
Today, it was especially icy.
George nodded with complete seriousness. “Yeah, she’s nice to look at.”
Liam, who lived for stirring the pot, had rarely seen Shane this worked up. Of course, he wasn’t going to let the moment pass. He grinned. “Got to admit, Layla’s not bad looking.”
Shane grunted, “She’s mine.”
[Mic drop.]
[I’m calling it. Best moment of Primal Hearts so far.]
[Ladies, doesn’t this deserve to trend?]
[Get it up there! Prof. Slater needs his moment. Layla, he’s really worth it!]
George’s smile froze on his face.
Liam choked so hard he nearly passed out.
Carson stared at Shane like he was seeing a stranger.
Was this really Shane? He didn’t seem like the same person they’d known before.
[Wolf Boss must be confused too.]
[Still… that’s such an obvious jab.]
Layla could feel the tension crackling between Shane and George. But she was the kind of mate who spoiled her boyfriend. Of course, she was going to take his side without question.
She turned her hand over and laced her fingers through his on her shoulder. Then she nodded seriously. “Yeah. I’m yours.”
A broad, unmistakable smile spread across Shane’s face. He lifted his chin at George and Liam.
Liam was confused.
Why are you coming at me?
George shot to his feet, grabbed his roasted fish, and headed for the gate. “Fine. I’ll leave. Happy?”

“George!”
He stopped at the gate. Seren had called out to him.
They were both singers in the industry, and should have been rivals. But their personalities were vastly different, and Seren was so one-of-a-kind that there was little competition between them. They crossed paths often and got along fairly well.
George stopped. “Don’t bother trying to talk me out of it. I said I’m leaving, and I’m leaving.”/
Seren blinked. “Huh? I wasn’t going to talk you out of it. I just wanted to ask about that fish you’ve got. It’s pretty big. You think you can finish it all by yourself?”
George spun around and ground his teeth. “What do you want?”
“Could I have a bite?” Seren, completely oblivious to how close George was to exploding, bounded over to him. “Just a tiny bite.”
George took two deep breaths, then held out the fish.
Seren’s eyes lit up. “Thanks!”
He tore off a huge chunk of the belly meat, then beamed with innocent delight. “Thanks. You can go now. I won’t keep you.”
[Seren, you’ve outdone yourself.]
[Seren’s “tiny bite” nearly took the whole fish.]
[Not the whole fish. Even he knows the tail isn’t as good as the belly. He only took half of that.]
[How has seren survived in the entertainment industry this long with social skills like this?]
[Who holds a grudge against someone who’s clearly not all there?]
Exactly. Who could stay mad at someone like that?
George’s teeth were grinding so hard that he might need dental work. In the end, he just walked out with his half-eaten fish.
[God. I’ve always said everyone gets what’s coming to them. Seren is George’s karma.]
[Along with Layla and Prof. Slater. George has a lot of karma coming his way.]
Seren didn’t see anything wrong with what he’d done. He pulled the main bone out of the huge piece of belly meat, put half in Avery’s plate, and wolfed down the rest in a few bites.
Avery stared at him, utterly at a loss for words. “Didn’t you see how furious George was?”
“Huh? Was he?” Seren licked his fingers. “Nah. George is a good guy. He just has a sharp tongue, so people misunderstand him.”
After dinner, it was getting late. Everyone agreed on what time to come back tomorrow and went their
