Beast Love Show: All For Her (by Sylvester Raven) novel Chapter 110

Chapter 110 Three Vanguards

She turned and took Shane’s hand. “Why did you come out? I thought you said it was cold.”

Layla still didn’t fully understand beastkins.

She assumed snakes hibernated in winter and that Shane must be just as sensitive to the cold.

To be fair, she hated the cold too.

“I heard General Hartwell’s voice and came to check.” Shane patted her hand. “You go inside and have some water. I’ll watch him.”

“Do you know how to do it?” Layla asked.

Shane looked at the pit, then at the chimney and the fire mouth. “Stack the wood vertically, then light it from this side?”

Layla’s eyes widened. “Wow. Look at you.”

[Prof. Slater knows?]

[Prof. Slater actually knows!]

[Prof. Slater, you’ve changed. You’re not the helpless, clueless academic I used to know.]

[Only he gets her. I’m shipping this so hard.]

[You will ship anything. But yeah… this is pretty cute.]

Layla pointed at the pit. “After the wood is stacked, cover it with a layer of wet grass. Then seal it with dirt and tamp it down tight.”

Shane nodded. “Got it. You go inside. I’ll supervise General Hartwell. I promise it’ll be done right.”

Liam looked up at Shane. Shane ignored him, his eyes full of warmth as he gazed at Layla.

Layla nodded and headed inside. “I’ll make you something good for dinner.”

“I want meat stew.” Liam piped up.

Layla didn’t even turn around. “No food for you.” Then she was inside.

Shane pressed his lips together, a faint smile tugging at his features.

“You’re smiling?” Liam straightened up. “What are you even thinking?”

Shane shot him a look. “Work.”

Liam’s babyish face puffed up with irritation. “I’m trying to talk to you about something serious.”

“Talking doesn’t stop you from working.” Shane turned to look at Vanguard floating nearby. “Go see what Layla is doing.”

Chapter 110 Three Vanguards

Behind the camera, a crew member looked at Fiona, who was lounging in a chair sipping coffee. “Ms. Myers. Prof. Slater wants us to leave.”

“He told you to leave. Why are you asking me?” Fiona huffed. “Even if you ask me, can I say no? Do I dare?”

“But last time we didn’t film Prof. Slater and Liam talking, we got yelled at.”

“You think I wanted to get yelled at?”

Before Fiona could finish, Shane’s voice came through Vanguard again, laced with a hint of threat.

“Still here?”

“Go! Go hover somewhere else!” Fiona snatched the controller from the crew member and steered Vanguard toward the cabin door. It bumped twice against the wooden frame.

The crew member winced, his hand reaching out then pulling back. He wanted to grab the controller but didn’t quite dare. “Ms. Myers, be careful. That thing is expensive.”

“It’s more expensive than the show? Offend Prof. Slater and the whole production is done. From now on, show some respect.”

The crew member mumbled an acknowledgment.

Inside the cabin, Layla had made her way to the kitchen. She was telling Yates they’d add meat stew to dinner when Yates suddenly stopped and tilted his head.

“Layla, is someone knocking?”

Layla blinked. “Shane and Liam are outside. Who would be knocking?” She turned to open the door. No sooner had she cracked it open than Shane’s Vanguard shot through the gap and flew straight into her chest.

[Damn. I’m getting the VIP treatment too.]

[I finally understand the camera language. I can see the panic in that movement.]

[Be careful. If you hurt Layla, Prof. Slater will tear that Vanguard into confetti.]

[It’s not that big.]

[Please.]

[Even if you beg, get in line.]

Layla fished the Vanguard out of her arms and took a closer look. It was Shane’s. She looked up at her own Vanguard, then put them side by side. “You two go play. No fighting.”

[As if Mom is sending the kids out to play.]

[Hard to imagine someone like Layla having kids.]

[Not just having them. Snakes can have a whole litter.]
