Chapter 136 Can We Eat It?
This is exactly what they mean by a great warrior’s blood never fades! I used to think Liam was just a coward stuck in logistics duty.]
[The Hartwell Legion has fallen on hard times, yet with Liam here, it feels like it never truly crumbled.j
[One day, the Hartwell Legion will reclaim its former glory!]

[I don’t get why everyone’s losing their minds, but this is actually pretty awesome.]
Liam’s arrow hit true, but he knew a single bamboo arrow would never take the Quetzalcoatlus down permanently.
Layla realized the same thing. Liam’s help could only go so far.
But anger and frustration burned too hot inside her for her to think straight.
“One isn’t enough? Then we’ll keep striking!” Layla and Liam said in perfect unison.
Liam nocked another arrow at once.
With one hand slick in blood, Layla dug her fingers into the beast’s back wound, pried the flesh and drove her combat knife deeper’inside.
One stab was 7 inches. Two stabs made it 14 inches.
“I wanna see just how thick your hide really is!” she snarled, dragging the blade down the gash.
Another agonized cry tore from the beast.

wider,
Liam’s bamboo arrow pierced straight into the Quetzalcoatlus’ chest, sinking nearly four inches deep.
Blaze stared, utterly stunned. “Is this really General Hartwell’s full strength?”
His own beast form was a natural apex predator, yet he was awestruck by Liam’s raw combat skill.
“Go down!” Layla shouted, yanking her knife free. “Or I’ll gut you right here!”
The Quetzalcoatlus seemed to understand. Or perhaps the fourteen-inch wound had drained the very last of its stamina. It had nothing left to fight with. It stumbled, then crashed heavily to the ground.
The bamboo arrow snapped on impact, the broken shaft sticking up from the dirt, unable to drive any deeper.
Blaze’s face was pure disbelief.
His shock was all directed at Liam. How much brute force did the man possess? How precise was his archery?

A Vanguard circled overhead. Layla was soaked in blood, droplets dripping down her face.
The beast’s back was a chaotic mess of crisscrossed gashes, all still oozing blood. The longest wound reached twenty inches, deep enough to glimpse bone beneath.
The beast lay sprawled on the ground. Liam, still holding a spare bamboo arrow, stepped closer. It cowered back, tucking its head in, looking almost pitiful.
Shane and George surfaced from the water, with Yates in human form trailing right behind them.
The Quetzalcoatlus spotted Shane and let out another weak whimper, its huge eyes blazing with hatred
Without hesitation, Layla drove her combat knife straight into one of its eyes.
The Vanguard feed instantly blurred out the graphic spot.
[Wait! Has she never killed anything before?]
[I’m starting to think Layla’s a cold-blooded killer. Someone needs to look into her.]
[Back off. You don’t wanna dig into her. If she can take down a Quetzalcoatlus, you’re nothing to her.]
Nobody paid any mind to the live chat jokes. Nobody cared about the beast’s suffering anymore.
Layla pulled her knife free. The creature spasmed in agony, far too weak to resist.
“You were never truly at fault for any of this,” Layla said coldly. “I probably shouldn’t kill you. But if I let you live and you hunt me down again, I might not get lucky a second time. So you have to die here.”
As she spoke, she flipped her knife smoothly in her hand and slashed clean across the beast’s throat.
Blood gushed forth, covering Layla’s head to toe and splattering Liam, who stood right beside her,
Liam shot her an annoyed glare. “A little heads up next time you do that? You gonna clean this off me later?”
Shane glanced up at him, eyes full of disapproval. “I don’t even let Layla wash my clothes.”
I wouldn’t even let Layla do my laundry. The nerve of him asking!
“I’ll do it! I’ll wash them!” Yates shouted immediately, raising his hand eagerly, eyes sparkling with pure admiration. “General Hartwell, I’ll wash them! I’ll do all your laundry from now on!”
Liam looked at the kid’s excited face and burst out laughing. The rest of them caught the mood and laughed along too.
“What a dork,” Liam said, tapping Yates lightly on his forehead, leaving a faint red mark.
“He rocks that little spot,” George chuckled.
