Chapter 149 George and Caleb Are Fighting!
Liam pretended he didn’t notice the glare.
The group was just about to eat when hurried footsteps sounded outside.
“Hello? Layla! Hurry, there’s trouble!”
“Hanna?” Layla turned toward Blaze.
Blaze was already on his feet and heading for the door. The others followed right behind.
“What’s wrong?” Blaze asked, steadying Hanna, who was gasping like she might collapse any second.
“George… George and Caleb are fighting!”
Layla’s heart sank.
George has a sharp tongue, but he doesn’t start fights. He wouldn’t pick on someone for no reason.
“What happened?” Layla demanded, pushing past the others to reach Hanna.
Hanna hadn’t expected Layla to react so sharply. Facing her, she looked guilty. “I’m sorry. It’s all my fault. If I hadn’t-”
“Skip the apologies. Just tell me where they are.”
“By the ocean,” Hanna said, pointing toward the coast. “George has Caleb pinned underwater. He won’t let him come up.”
Without another word, Layla shifted and flew toward the sea at top speed. Shane didn’t even get a word out before she was gone.
Liam glanced at Shane, and just as he expected, Shane’s lips were pressed into a thin, sulky line.
“Hey, it’s not that big of a deal, right?” Liam tried to say. “She’s just worried. They’re friends.”
Even as he said the word friends, Liam felt a twinge of guilt. He’d been teasing Shane just moments before. but seeing how genuinely upset Shane was made him feel a little bad. After all, they’d survived hell together.
By the time Layla reached the shore, she spotted George in his merman form, perched on a rock with a Vanguard floating above him. Ripples spread across the water before him.
Layla was about to land when a head popped up from the waves.
George’s shimmering silver tail lashed through the air with a sharp crack, slamming the head back under
the water.
He moved so fast that Layla barely caught a glimpse of who it was. But with Hanna rushing over to say George was fighting Caleb, the guy being held underwater was obviously Caleb.
Layla mentally facepalmed.

Chapter 149 George and Caleb Are Fighting’
I’m such an idiot.
They’re fighting by the ocean. How was George ever the one getting bullied?
Even if he was weaker than Caleb, he could just hide underwater.
I should’ve waited before rushing over.
She landed beside George and glanced at his Vanguard screen. Even without knowing the full story, the live chat made it clear everyone was mostly on George’s side.
So Caleb must have done something truly awful to set him off.
That made sense. George had a short temper, but he never started fights unprovoked-he was all bark, no
bite.
There was even a story about him getting cornered in a bathroom stall by an obsessed fan; he’d yelled at the guy nonstop through the door for an hour without laying a single hand on him.
He had a sharp mouth, but he drew the line at physical violence. He must have been absolutely enraged to lose control like this.
“What happened?” Layla asked.
George was still mad at her. He turned his head away, refusing to look at her. Right then, Caleb surfaced again. George slammed his tail down once more, even harder this time.
[Is Layla actually here to break up the fight?]
[Doesn’t look like it. Before she arrived, George was just messing with him. Now it looks like he’s trying to drown him.]
[Caleb’s a jerk, but he doesn’t deserve to die, right?]
[He stole stuff and hurt a woman! Maybe not death, but he shouldn’t get away scot-free.]
[I’ve always liked George’s rival, but I’m on George’s side this time]
[I never liked George before, but I’m with him now. Take him down! I’ll get everyone on my planet to sign a petition for you.]
[Will petitions even do anything? If they do, my crew will sign too.]
