Beast Love Show: All For Her (by Sylvester Raven) novel Chapter 156

Chapter 156 The Truth Comes Out

Back then, Layla had saved his life, and he had always seen her as his real sister.

“It wasn’t him. He just stole something from our house.”

The wet shoes were George’s doing.

George stepped forward to ruffle Yates’ hair. “I did it by accident. Don’t worry.”

Yates relaxed a little, but when he looked up at George, his expression was still sour.

George knew Yates was close to Layla, so it made sense that he didn’t like him right now. He didn’t push it.

“Just be more careful next time,” Yates said. “Layla’s not in good health.”

George’s eyes went wide.

Layla’s health is poor? Who spread that rumor?

Yates looked at Layla with concern as Shane carried her back. He stopped worrying about George’s feelings, hurried into the stone house, and came out with a pair of fuzzy slippers for Layla. “Put these on for now.”

“Did you make these, Yates?”

They weren’t really shoes, just woven grass soles with leather uppers. They were not much to look at, and not very durable, but they were warm.

Yates nodded. “They’re not pretty. I planned to fix them.”

“They’re lovely,” Layla said, patting Yates on the shoulder. “Sit here. Don’t be upset.”

Before Yates could react, Layla turned to look at Hanna, who had come back with the others and hadn’t said a word the whole way.

“We need to clear this up,” she said.

Layla believed Hanna wasn’t behind this and might not even know.

However, Hanna had previously included her in the discussion.

That wasn’t what Layla wanted.

Everyone sat down. Only Hanna, Blaze, and Caleb remained standing.

Layla had Shane on her left, Yates on her right. Liam and George sat next to Shane.

Stella wanted to sit between Liam and George, but there was no room. She ended up across from George, where she could see both him and Liam.

Neither looked up at her. They were both watching Hanna.

Layla pointed to the seat across from her. “Sit and talk.”

Hanna pressed her lips together and didn’t move.

Caleb tried to walk over and sit down, but Blaze grabbed him. “Where do you think you’re going?”

Caleb shot Blaze a vicious glare. Blaze wasn’t afraid. He didn’t even flinch.

“Let’s sit and talk.” Yates stood. “I’ll make some drinks.”

He took the kettle to the kitchen, came back with some herbs in it, filled it with water, and set it on the sto

He lit the fire, watched it catch, and then sat back down next to Layla.

[Yates must be furious. He cares so much about Layla, and the second he looks away, someone hurts hel

[Yates is so composed. Even this angry, he still remembers to make drinks for guests.]

[Don’t even mention Yates, I’m mad just watching. Layla worked so hard to save up that food, and now it’s all stolen. Winter is almost here. It’ll be hard to stock up again.]

[There’s almost no game left in the mountains. General Hartwell has been going far to hunt lately.]

Only after Yates spoke did Blaze force Caleb to sit down at the far end, facing Yates. Blaze sat next to Caleb, Hanna sat on Blaze’s other side, with an empty space between her and Stella.

[What’s going on? Spit it out! I’m dying of suspense here.]

[Same! Just say it already! Did Hanna and her people steal the stuff or not?]

[Hanna already admitted it. What more proof do you need?]

Under the table, Hanna twisted the hem of her shirt. She took a deep breath, then looked up at Layla, her face full of guilt. “We stole from you. I’m sorry. I’ll find a way to pay you back.”

Layla looked at her, half-exasperated.

Caleb was awful, and she was still trying to go down with him.

“Was it you or him?”

Hanna froze, taken aback by the question.

“I…”

“I want the truth,” Layla insisted.
