Chapter 159 Live Chats
Hanna turned to look at Caleb, confused. “But there was only that much at home.”
She looked urgently at Layla, afraid she wouldn’t believe her. “I’m not lying. Really.”
“I believe you,” Layla replied, then shifted her gaze to Caleb.
Even though males were thick-skinned and tougher than females, after being beaten by an enraged Hanna for over ten minutes, Caleb had passed out.
Blaze was quick to react. The moment Layla looked over, he slapped Caleb on the head. “Wake up!”
Caleb remained unresponsive, seemingly in a deeper sleep.
Blaze looked a little embarrassed, scratched his head, and gave Layla an apologetic smile.
Liam glanced at the Vanguard and said, “He’s got some serious sleep quality. He just dozed off.”
[Exactly! He’s asleep. How rude. Everyone’s talking and he falls asleep.]
[Told you he wasn’t good enough for Hanna. Look at him. Everyone else is awake, only he’s tired.]
[Give him some water, that’ll wake him up.]
Liam read the live chat on his Vanguard and smiled. “The audience suggests giving him some water to wake him up.”
Yates shot up. “I’ll do it. I’m great at pouring water.”
He glanced at the clay cups on the table, thought for a moment, and said, “These cups are too small. I’ll go get a bowl from the kitchen.”
He said he was going to get a bowl, but when he came out of the kitchen, he was holding a basin.
“All the bowls are being used. This is all that’s left.” He explained cheerfully to the Vanguard, then went to the stove and poured a basin of boiling hot water.
He steeped herbs in the water.
According to him and Layla, it was for strengthening the body.
A full basin of boiling water, and Yates handled it carefully, afraid of spilling.
“Let me.” Blaze took the basin from Yates, pried Caleb’s mouth open with one hand, and tilted the basin with the other, pouring boiling water straight down Caleb’s throat.
Liam raised his own Vanguard and pointed it at himself. “Nothing to see over there. They’re just drinking water. Come on, let George say hi to everyone.”
That was borderline abusive. They couldn’t show that on stream.
The other Vanguards understood and turned away to film what they should.

Chapter 159 Live Chats
There weren’t enough Vanguards anyway. And Blaze and Caleb drinking water really wasn’t interesting. No need to keep a Vanguard on that.
George waved enthusiastically at the Vanguard. “Hi everyone, I’m George.”
[Wow, I’ve been a fan of George for years and never seen him so polite.]
[Me neither. Wonder who we have to thank for that.]
[Never mind who, today is a good day. We’re gathered here to celebrate a female escaping undeserved suffering and heading for a new life.]
[Today is a good day, anything you wish can come true!]
[Welcome, good luck!]
[Welcome, good luck!]
[We should welcome George! Good luck comes every year, but a polite George is rare. Ask your questions now before he changes his mind.]
[Since no one’s asking, I will. George, do you like Layla?]
George glanced at Layla. She was sitting next to Shane, who was playing with her hand. Her eyes were fixed on Hanna across the table. She didn’t spare him a single look.
“Who likes her?”
“Likes who?” Liam heard this and leaned over to ask.
George panicked. Afraid Liam would see the question, he grabbed the Vanguard and hugged it to his chest.
[Wow, I’ve been buried in George’s chest.]
[If I’d known watching George’s livestream came with this perk, I’d tune in daily.]
[Mmm! It’s so soft!]
[You guys are too much, but it really is soft. Did you feel it? The Vanguard is shaking.]
Whether Vanguard swayed or not was unclear, but Liam felt George’s heart wavering.
“If you like her, just say it. Be bold and go for what you want. If it’s meant for you, chasing it will make it yours,” he encouraged.
Layla found those words familiar. Liam had used the same line to trick the former Layla.
The former Layla fell for it.
Clearly, so did George.
He turned to look at Layla.
