Beast Love Show: All For Her (by Sylvester Raven) novel Chapter 175

Chapter 175 Words Between Males

True winners know when to yield, and Fiona and Michael exemplify this.

The production crew did the same.

They’d been in the entertainment industry long enough. They knew what to do and what not to do.

Liam hauled Shane off to the side. “And you still have the nerve to laugh at me? It’s been ages and you haven’t found so much as a shadow of Starcore Ore.”

“And if I found it, what use would it be?” Shane replied, his former aloofness replaced by a more relatable demeanor.

Liam previously viewed this change positively, but he now found Shane’s behavior infuriating.

He shook Shane by the shoulders. “Whoever you are, get out of Prof. Slater’s body! I want the old Prof. Slater back!”

Shane swatted Liam’s hands away. “The old Prof. Slater wasn’t stupid either. He could also see that those people have started resorting to anything, no matter how dirty.

“Liam, who exactly do you pledge loyalty to? The Empire? The royal family? The people of the Empire? And who do they pledge loyalty to? The Empire? The royal family? The people of the Empire? Or Yveria?”

“Shane!” Liam’s breath came fast. He stared into Shane’s eyes, searching desperately for any trace of words spoken in anger.

But those eyes held nothing extra. Only a profound disappointment in the Empire.

They locked eyes, and a silent standoff unfolded between them, neither willing to back down.

In the end, it was Liam who broke first. He looked at the man across from him, his shoulders sagging. “What exactly do you want? Are you abandoning the mission?”

“I didn’t say I’m abandoning it. But who I do it for, how I do it, when I do it, that should be up to me.”

“Just because they didn’t send reinforcements in time?”

Liam had noticed Shane’s attitude toward the Empire shift. It had started when they nearly died under the Quetzalcoatlus’s claws, never once receiving Imperial aid.

“It’s not that they didn’t send reinforcements in time.” Shane’s voice was cold, sharp and icy with the truth laid bare. “It’s that there were no reinforcements at all! Liam, wake up. The moment they sent you here, they had already decided to abandon you!”

Liam swayed on his feet.

That was true. There had been no reinforcements at all.

Planet A13 was a barren, desolate rock, but there were developed planets in the surrounding region.

If they had mobilized troops from those planets, if they had mobilized them the moment they started

running, they might never have been backed into a corner by the Quetzalcoatlus at all.

The Empire had never intended to let him return alive.

“Did you really think they would let a logistics unit be equipped with the most advanced mecha weapons? Liam, has all that training waterlogged your brain?”

Liam’s body swayed again. His back hit the stone wall behind him.

He didn’t want to admit it. But he had to. Everything Shane said was the truth.

“From the moment you negotiated your terms with the Empire, the outcome was already decided. Or rather, the moment they selected you, they were already planning to send you to your death!”

The reason Liam had agreed to join this absurd dating show had never been for Stella.

His goal, from the very beginning, had been the same as Shane’s.

He wanted to find the Starcore Ore deposit that might exist on this planet.

Two years ago, his father died on the battlefield against Yveria. Since then, the Hartwell Legion had existed in name only. They were still at the front lines; they still bore the Hartwell Legion name. But without exception, they were dispatched to the most lethal outposts to garrison.

He’d voiced his anger, but he’d been powerless. The duty of the Hartwell Legion was to guard the frontier. to protect the Empire’s outermost line of defense.

The veterans of the Hartwell Legion, hearts aching for their soldiers, still followed orders through tears.

And Liam, the sole heir to the former General Hartwell, the new commander of the Hartwell Legion, had been trapped in the Empire’s Planet Central the entire time. He didn’t even have the authority to leave the planet.

They handed him a logistics unit, calling it a vital role in ensuring the Empire’s military reserves.

But he knew.

Everyone knew.

The Empire did this to weaken the Hartwell Legion’s power, to erode the Hartwell family’s influence.

They wanted the Hartwell Legion to simply vanish from the Empire.

The Hartwell Legion’s strength had made everyone wary.

Yveria feared them. And the Empire feared them too.
