Beast Love Show: All For Her (by Sylvester Raven) novel Chapter 208

Chapter 208 The Pecking Order

When females were busy working, they couldn’t divide their attention between birthing and raising children.

Under this multifaceted pressure, polyandry was born.

But most capable males actually dernanded their mate be exclusive.

They had the means to ensure their mate never had to labor for a living, could stay home peacefully, and produce offspring.

Shane, of course, would never force Layla to have children. But with his capabilities, he could absolutely monopolize her.

And it wasn’t just Shane. Liam and George, any one of them plucked at random, had that capacity.

Yet among them all, Shane was the most open-minded.

He was the one Layla loved most. As for George and Liam, they had her affection, yes, but watching how she prioritized Shane’s feelings now, no one else would ever surpass him.

Shane has no reason to feel slighted compared to George and Liam.

In fact, Liam often debated with him without ever gaining the upper hand.

And George, who had been subtly flirting with Layla. Now they both had to call him “big brother.”

“I’m not hurt either. I’m your number-two mate. What’s there for me to be hurt about?” Before Liam could even react, George had already staked his claim.

Liam’s eyes widened at George’s words. “Who said that? Who agreed to this?”

“My brother agreed,” George answered Liam with righteous confidence, then turned to Shane, tone softening. “Isn’t that right, brother?”

That term warmed Shane’s heart.

It was evident that George’s quick thinking made him thrive in the entertainment business.

Liam’s cluelessness made him easy prey in the Empire’s upper echelons. Despite his skills, he lacked the

opportunity to apply them, as his mind couldn’t keep up with the schemes and intrigues around him.

He was a military genius, but he failed to understand his opponents’ motives in the Empire’s political infighting before issuing orders.

By the time he caught on, it was already too late.

“Number two is right. What do you think, number three?” Shane turned to Liam.

Liam’s mouth twisted with grievance. Still, he gave a reluctant nod. “I have no objections.”

He couldn’t even put Layla first. He’d owe her for the rest of his life. Shane, who loved Layla so much,

knowing full well Liam couldn’t place her above all else, had still allowed him to stay by her side. That was grace. He couldn’t be ungrateful.

George had tracked her all the way here. He genuinely loved her.

In their presence, Liam felt he had no grounds to argue.

Layla stood off to the side, watching Shane settle both George and Liam’s positions and rankings in three quick sentences. She was momentarily stunned before asking, “Does no one want to ask my opinion?”

“You don’t have an opinion, sweetie,” Shane replied, ruffling her hair in a comforting manner, which unexpectedly made Layla feel cherished.

She’d gone too long without someone soothing her. In the apocalypse, she’d watched her family leave her, one by one, until she was alone. She struggled to survive in the post-apocalyptic world. Sometimes, for months on end, she wouldn’t hear a single human voice.

That one word, “sweetie,” poured into her heart like a warm current. A heart that had been running dry refilled and began to pound, alive.

“That’s so cheesy,” she remarked, turning to head into the cave. “I’m going to get something to eat.”

“Oh? You’re actually shy?” George observed, noticing Layla’s flushed ears.
