Beast Love Show: All For Her (by Sylvester Raven) novel Chapter 215

Chapter 215 Energy Overload

If Liam could use the Starcore Essence to reforge the Hartwell Legion’s mechs, it would be more than just a return to glory.

Liam turned to look at Layla, his eyes blazing with admiration and fierce emotion.

Layla found this Starcore Essence. It belonged to her. And he belonged to Layla.

While the four in the cavern stood overwhelmed with surging emotion, the outside world had already exploded.

The official livestream from Planet A13 went black the moment Layla and her companions entered the

waterfall.

[What’s happening? The screen’s gone black!]

[Holy crap! I just saw them about to go into the waterfall, and then it cut out. Did the director switch feeds?]

[No, the other contestants’ streams are fine. Only Layla and her team are offline!]

[Signal cut? No way. Vanguards are military-grade. They don’t just randomly drop.]

[Wait! George’s Vanguard already went down in the ocean, remember? And General Hartwell’s Vanguard went missing too! And now they’re gone! That’s terrifying!]

[Conspiracy! It’s definitely a Grant family conspiracy! They’re trying to silence them forever!]

[The production team, give us an explanation! If anything happens to my idols, I won’t forgive this!]

The live chat flooded with frantic speculation.

Within minutes, the hashtag “Layla And Three Others Missing” had seized the top trending spot.

At that moment, the four people at the center of the commotion were completely unaware of any of this.

Shane’s focus was utterly consumed by the pulsing Starcore Essence.

“I want to sense its energy structure.” He murmured it, half like he was asking the others, but his feet were already moving forward, beyond his control.

“Don’t!” Liam reacted first, snapping out a warning. This thing had disabled the Vanguards, paralyzed beastkin. It was not something to touch lightly.

But it was too late.

Shane’s fingers had already made contact.

A blaze of radiance erupted around him. A torrent of silver energy surged up his fingers and poured into his body in a mad flood.

“Ugh!”

Shane managed only a strangled groan of agony. Every trace of color drained from his perpetually composed face.

In the next second, his body went limp and crashed to the ground.

“Shane!” Layla screamed, a raw edge of terror in her voice she didn’t even recognize.

In the same instant his body crumpled, she was already lunging, catching him before his skull could crack against the rock.

The heat against her hands was scalding.

Liam snapped into action a heartbeat later, springing forward, drawing his military knife, and dropping into full defensive stance.

Layla forced herself to be calm. Her fingers pressed to Shane’s carotid. It was still pulsing.

He wasn’t dying, which relieved her.

“It’s not poison,” Layla said hoarsely. “It’s an energy overload. He’s absorbing it.”

Liam’s gaze moved from the Starcore Essence to Shane’s ashen face, his brow furrowing. “Forced absorption? His body can’t take it!”

As an Empire general, he understood better than anyone the lethal danger of raw energy flooding a living vessel.

“Then what? Separate him from that thing!” George was practically spinning in place. He looked at Shane’s contorted features and felt an invisible fist clench around his own heart.

He bickered with Shane constantly, couldn’t stand that all-knowing, always-in-control composure, but he had never imagined Shane actually getting hurt.

“No!” Layla and Liam vetoed in unison.

Liam nodded, adding, “The only thing we can do now is wait. Wait for him to recover, or for it to burst him apart.”

The last few words came out with immense difficulty.

George felt like a bucket of ice water had been dumped over his head.

He stood frozen. He looked at Shane, eyes shut tight, brow furrowed, cradled in Layla’s arms. He looked at the Starcore Essence vein, pulsing with that ominous light. For the first time, he felt utterly, completely

useless.

At that moment, the voice he took pride in, his breathtaking good looks, and his status as a merman prince all became meaningless.

The cavern sank into a deathly stillness.

Only the muffled roar of the waterfall remained, and the rhythmic pulse of the Starcore Essence vein. With every pulse, Shane’s body gave a slight tremor, more cold sweat beading on his forehead.
