As soon as those words were spoken, the bustling scene fell silent.

Oliver was actually joining Layla’s Group!

She turned to look at Oliver as he approached, panic in her voice. “Prince Oliver, why? Weren’t we working well together?”

Oliver turned away, his delicate face showing a mix of hurt and anger.

Layla felt a twinge of guilt.

Ignoring the stares from the males behind her, she walked to Oliver and whispered, “Aren’t we supposed to be cooperating? How can we cooperate if you’re on my team?”

Oliver’s eyes, which had dimmed, lit up again.

He looked at Layla eagerly, then nodded vigorously.

Layla returned to Shane and the others.

Liam was giving her a sidelong glance, and George was huffing angrily.

Feeling helpless, she reassured them, “I have my reasons. You’ll understand soon.”

Shane wisely chimed in, “Since Layla said so, we should trust her.”

Shane was like the mediator of their family. Without him, Liam and George would really never stop bickering.

Stella, seeing Oliver rejected, snorted inwardly. She thought Layla was just putting on airs. That gave her another opportunity.

She went back to Oliver, reached out, and gently tugged his sleeve.

“Prince Oliver, Layla doesn’t appreciate you. You should come with me. We’ve worked together for so long.”

Oliver looked at Stella, barely hiding his disgust, then nodded glumly.
