Chapter 256 Sleep
Down beneath the tree, King Kong paced restlessly in circles, drawn madly by the delicious scent.
They’d promised it a share of the egg, and the aroma alone was enough to drive it wild with anticipation.
Layla divided the scrambled eggs and egg flatbread into five equal portions, piling the leftover servings onto a large platter for the three males to enjoy.
George claimed the first seat at the table, breathing in the fragrant steam from his plate before giving Layla a thumbs-up.
“Only you could make food this amazing. No one else comes close.”
He dug in heartily the second he finished speaking.
A warm smile touched Layla’s face as she watched him eat with such relish.
For anyone who loved cooking, nothing beat seeing others enjoy their food to the fullest.
As Layla reached for her fork, a faint thud against the trunk of the tree startled her, followed by King Kong’s low, disgruntled chirp.
Slapping her forehead, she chided herself silently.
How could I forget? I promised King Kong a portion.
Layla quickly pan-fried the last of the leftover egg mixture and carried the plate down to the ground.
Never having tasted cooked food before, King Kong sniffed the dish cautiously, then lit up with delight, gobbling it down ravenously.
Layla stroked its head gently, already thinking ahead.
I need to gather far more food soon. Keeping King Kong fed alone will take more supplies than our whole group combined.
She’d planned to stay and watch King Kong finish its meal when faint rustling from the nearby jungle pricked her sharp ears.
A heavy, oppressive aura hung thick in the air.
However, as she spun around, nothing came into view.
Creatures native to this planet grew to enormous sizes by nature, and the jungle foliage wasn’t dense enough to hide anything large.
Whatever lurked nearby should have been visible plain as day.
Dismissing the strange feeling for a moment, Layla smiled at the full, content King Kong and patted its head playfully.
“Keep a sharp eye out tonight. Wake me if any danger draws near.”

Chapter 250 Sleep
She then leaped back up into the tree hollow to rest.
Every member of their group had worked tirelessly all day, exhaustion weighing heavily on their shoulders
Ready to collapse into bed and sleep soundly, the three males suddenly fell into a tense standoff over who would share Layla’s bed for the night.
“You two run colder than I do. I should be the one sleeping beside her,” Liam argued firmly.
George scoffed, rolling up his sleeves in defiance.
“My skin is smooth and soft. Layla will sleep far more comfortably with me.”
Shane said nothing at all, only staring up at Layla with big, teary, pleading eyes.
Layla cleared her throat awkwardly and glanced at Daisy, who immediately retreated to her own bed and pretended to be fast asleep, feigning complete ignorance of the argument.
Picking one over the other two would surely leave the rejected pair bitter and sleepless all night.
Being desired this way is truly such a hassle.
As she glanced at the spacious sleeping mat, an idea formed in Layla’s mind.
Stepping before the three men, she asked, “Did any of you bother asking what I want?”
All three turned to stare at her hopefully, each silently begging to be chosen.
Layla gestured to the middle bed. “The three of you can share it together.”
Disbelief washed over their faces at once.
George was the first to protest loudly, “I’m not sharing a bed with them! No way, absolutely not!”
Liam shot him a sharp glare. “As if I’d want to share with you either.”
Shane tugged gently at Layla’s sleeve, his voice small and hurt. “Why can’t I sleep with you?”
Layla’s heart softened at his vulnerable expression, yet she gently pulled his hand away to stop the argument from escalating.
“Liam runs the warmest. You’re still recovering from weakness, and I toss and turn in my sleep-I might accidentally kick you off the bed. And George, you talk nonstop in your sleep.”
Her explanation silenced all complaints.
Grumbling with quiet resentment, they climbed onto the shared bed and lay down.
Satisfied with their compliance, Layla offered a small peace offering before settling into her own bed, “You’ll take turns sleeping with me starting tomorrow night.”
The three men perked up instantly at her words, their low spirits vanishing completely.
