Chapter 272 Vengeful Plot
“What are you saying? Are you leaving me for good?”
Carson shook his head gently, his tone calm and unyielding. “This was never anything more than a temporary partnership for the survival competition.”
Romantic attachment to Stella had never crossed his mind once.
As she watched him turn to walk away without hesitation, pure panic finally washed over Stella.
She threw herself forward and clung tightly to his arm, genuine sobs trembling in her voice for the very first time.
“Please don’t go. I truly love you. Getting close to those other males was only ever to make you jealous.”
Carson paused at her words, turning around.
Hope flickered across Stella’s face; she was certain her confession had swayed him-only for his next sentence to crush her completely.
“You don’t love me at all. You only crave the vanity of having a powerful male at your beck and call. If someone stronger came along tomorrow, you’d turn to them without a second thought.”
No lingering hesitation slowed his steps.
He spun on his heel and strode off, vanishing into the woods before Stella could utter another word.
Rooted to the spot, Stella was trembling all over with bloodshot eyes.
Aaron stepped forward to comfort her, only for a shrill scream to tear from her throat.
“It’s that bitch’s fault! I’ll kill Layla! I swear I’ll end her life!”
Aaron and Bruce exchanged a nervous glance.
The Vanguard had chased after Carson moments earlier, sparing them from having her murderous threat aired to the galaxy.
They sighed quietly, ready to offer comfort, yet Stella was far too consumed by fury to listen.
Her fingers curled into tight fists, teeth sinking hard into her lower lip until blood welled to the surface.
No pain registered in her mind; every thought burned with hatred for Layla.
Nothing would stop her from killing the woman tonight-consequences be damned.
A cold, sinister glint flashed in her eyes as she snapped her gaze toward Aaron.
Unease prickled his skin under her menacing stare. “What is it?” he asked nervously.
Lifting her chin with the haughty arrogance of someone born into privilege, Stella spoke plainly, “The two of you were sent by my father to assist me, were you not?”
Aaron nodded silently, his mind racing with unease.
What devious plan is she hatching?
Does she really intend to send us to kill Layla?
