Chapter 298 Deal With It

It was a loose piece of Starcore Ore.

Remembering that Layla and Shane wanted this stuff, he casually picked up a piece and slipped it into his pocket.

Just as he was about to leave, the slumbering Thunder Pterosaur suddenly opened its eyes.

Something feels off. It seems something has entered my territory.

The Thunder Pterosaur’s eyes swept the area like twin radars.

It slowly inched closer to the rock where Carson was hiding.

Carson could even feel the foul, warm breath from its nostrils.

He quickly calculated his options.

If discovered by the Thunder Pterosaur, he’d have to flee, leading it away from their camp.

Suddenly, the bracelet on his wrist grew warm and emitted a faint light. At the same moment, the Thunder Pterosaur swiped its massive claw, sending the rock flying.

Its cold, reptilian eyes fixed on the spot behind the rock, but there was no one there.

Carson stood frozen, staring right at the pterosaur, yet it saw nothing.

The creature seemed to decide it had been overly cautious. It settled back down onto the ore pile.

Carson raised his hand, only then realizing he had turned invisible.

The heat from my wrist earlier… it must have been the bracelet Shane gave me activating.

He let out a silent breath of relief and swiftly slipped out of the cave.

The moment he left the cave and his heart rate returned to normal, the invisibility faded.

Carson reappeared abruptly right in front of Liam, startling him badly.

Carson didn’t explain, simply uttering in a low voice, “Let’s go. Now.”

Soon, Carson and Liam returned to where Layla and the others waited.

They recounted everything they had seen.

Layla frowned. “There’s only one Thunder Pterosaur in there?”

Carson nodded. “From the signs of habitation, it seems only one pterosaur lives around that Starcore Ore deposit.”

Those kinds of creatures were fond of building nests.

Even if it used the cave as a lair, it would have constructed a proper nest inside with materials.

But he had seen only one nest.

Moreover, judging by the size and shape of that nest, the Thunder Pterosaur inside was likely a female.

When not in mating season, female ones could be even more formidable and territorial than males.

Layla gently stroked her chin, deep in thought.

In that case, they would have to lure the dragon away to enter the Starcore Ore cave quietly

A Starcore Ore deposit of that size would undoubtedly attract attention from all sorts of factions.

If that happened, whether Planet A13 could remain the show’s prize would be entirely out of Layla’s control.

Layla heaved a heavy sigh, her eyes filled with worry.

Shane tilted his head, concern evident in his gaze. “Layla, what’s wrong?”

She voiced her concerns, and the group fell into a contemplative silence.

Layla was right. This ore vein absolutely could not become known to anyone else on the show, especially Stella.

Until they had a solid plan, they couldn’t recklessly confront the Thunder Pterosaur.

Shane racked his brain, trying to recall everything he knew about Thunder Pterosaur habits.

Suddenly, his eyes lit up.

“Thunder Pterosaurs love to go out during thunderstorms. Maybe we can use that opportunity to deal with it.”

At his words, Layla’s eyes sparkled, much brighter than their earlier gloom.

As she wrapped her arms loosely around Shane’s neck, Layla’s tone lightened with obvious cheer.

“Good thing I’ve got you. Let’s go with that plan.”

Jealousy flared bright in George’s eyes as he watched Shane held snug in Layla’s embrace. Yet a quick glance at Oliver, who wore the same wistful envy, eased his pique at once.

At the very least, I can be close to Layla now and then.

Oliver never stands a chance.

A smug glint settled over George’s features at the thought.

Oliver caught the look out of the corner of his eye, his brows knitting together. “What’s that expression supposed to mean?”
