Chapter 299 Kisses
George fell silent, forced to admit he was being unreasonable.
His head drooped dejectedly, fingers plucking nervously at the hem of his shirt in quiet discontent.
Stepping closer to his sturdy frame, Layla leaned in and pressed a loud, playful peck to his cheek.
George’s eyes lit up instantly, blazing like a bright bulb in the dark.
He licked his lips, voice thick with excitement. “You kissed me, Layla.”
Layla ruffled his hair fondly. “Consider it a consolation prize. Happy now?”
George nodded vigorously without a moment’s pause.
A helpless smile tugged at Layla’s lips.
When she turned her head, the other four men were all fixed on her, each wearing a look of unspoken yearning.
Surely they don’t all expect a kiss, too?
Layla was speechless.
The live chat burst into enthusiastic cheers.
[She kissed George, so she has to kiss everyone else, too! Layla’s gotta treat all her guys fairly!]
[Right! Look at Prof. Slater’s face, he’s almost teary! Go give him a kiss!]
[General Hartwell looks like his heart’s about to break, too.]
True to the audience’s hopes, Layla decided to spread her affection evenly.
She pressed a soft light kiss to Shane’s cheek first, then turned to peck Liam quickly, before pinching Oliver’s cheek and giving him a sweet kiss as well.
Only when she stood before Carson did she hesitate.
A faint gloominess clouded Carson’s eyes.
Assuming she didn’t wish to kiss him, he turned to leave.
Layla reached out in an instant, tugging him back. She turned his face toward hers firmly and planted a loud, full peck on his cheek.
Wet splotches of saliva glistened on Carson’s face, giving it a slick, glossy sheen that compelled her to lean in for another taste.
Wiping her mouth lightly, Layla spoke. “There, everyone’s had one now.”
George huffed quietly but said no more.

Deep down, he felt triumphant-he’d been the first one she’d kissed that day.
Carson’s ears flushed crimson, and the upward curve of his lips betrayed his hidden joy, no matter how hard he tried to hide it.
The live chat erupted in celebration.
[Is this really free content we get to watch?!]
[Why did Layla hesitate before kissing Mr. Fields?]
[I bet she was deciding where to kiss him-he’s so naturally stoic and reserved.]
[If it were me, I’d plant a big kiss right on his chest.]
[Hey, keep it PG in the stream! Save those thoughts for private chats!]
With all five men soothed, Layla leaned out the window to study the sky.
Years of surviving in the apocalypse had honed her instincts.
She could read the incoming weather perfectly from cloud formations and wind direction.
A thunderstorm was bound to roll in within the next two days.
“We need to make preparations. Rain’s coming soon. We’ll split into two teams once it hits,” she announced.
Those with stronger combat skills would hold off the Thunder Pterosaurs, ideally taking them down for good.
The less physically formidable group would join Shane to explore the Starcore Ore mine.
No one objected to Layla’s plan.
Only Oliver frowned slightly, his tone grave. “Stella and her group will arrive within the next two days for sure. She’ll keep her eyes locked on you, and she’ll be nothing but trouble.”
Oliver’s worry was well-founded.
For all her sincere apologies on live stream, Stella only wanted to return to the show to target Layla,
Her mental state had long grown warped and bitter.
A cunning glint sparkled in Layla’s eyes.
She glanced at the five men and held up one finger.
Ten pairs of eyes were locked onto that slender finger, so intently that they nearly crossed in a moment of collective fixation.
“I’ve got a plan to put her in her place properly,” she said.
Intrigued, all the men leaned in closer at once.
