Chapter 304 Unexpected Servant
“Your cooking is amazing, Layla. Have some more; you’re too thin,” Oliver said.
His sudden attentiveness puzzled Layla.
Still, her loyalty to those she considered friends ran deep.

Even confused and somewhat annoyed by his actions, she held her tongue and ate the meat he offered
It wasn’t long before Stella spoke up again, “I’m so envious of you, Layla. They were never this considerate or gentle with me.”
True to form, she can’t stay quiet for long.
Layla lifted her gaze, meeting Stella’s with a knowing, faintly amused smile. “Maybe they just didn’t think you deserved it.”
The verbal jab hit its mark.
Stella’s face fell, her lips trembling on the verge of tears.
Oliver promptly chimed in, “Layla, you always see right through people. That’s exactly what I thought.”
Stella’s teary act froze mid-performance.
Layla had to admit she’d underestimated the girl’s sheer gall.
Even after being insulted so bluntly, Stella not only remained seated but continued eating.
Once the meal was over, Stella batted her eyes at Layla, who was preparing to leave. “Layla, is there anything I can do to help?”
Taking in the show of sincerity, Layla raised a brow. “You really want to help?”
Stella nodded earnestly, though inwardly she seethed.
If it weren’t for Mom’s task, I’d never lower myself like this in front of her.
None of this showed on her face, which maintained its pitiful facade.
A slow smile spread across Layla’s lips. She pointed toward a corner of the cabin. “Perfect timing. Today’s laundry hasn’t been done.”
Normally, Shane or George handled the washing.
Today, George was sulking, and Shane, whose health was always delicate, shouldn’t be handling cold water in this weather.
Since Stella was so eager to volunteer, Layla decided to oblige her.
Stella’s eye twitched at the sight of the pile of clothes.

She hadn’t expected Layla to take her up on the offer so literally.

Glancing at Layla, who wore that same infuriating half-smile, Stella gritted her teeth, rolled up her sleeves, and trudged toward the dirty laundry.
Online, viewers were practically howling.
[Oliver set this up on purpose, didn’t he? To make her suffer?]
[No kidding! Did you see him haul out more clothes from the room when Layla mentioned faundry? Weren’t those clean clothes from yesterday? I’m dying!]
[Did you catch Stella’s expression? She almost broke character.]
[I’m more curious why she came crawling to Layla’s place in the first place. Begging for rejection like this- she’s definitely up to something.]
[Which guy would even want her on their team now? Maybe she’s here to play the victim and try to win Mr. Fields back?]
Watching the live chat scroll by, Layla grew thoughtful.
She didn’t believe for a second that Stella had changed her stripes.
The girl was here for a reason.
Layla couldn’t guard against her forever.
Better to let Stella show her hand and find out what she was really after.
Facing the mountain of clothing, Stella looked ready to cry, but no one took pity.
Struggling, she gathered the pile and carried it toward the small stream outside.
George, who was talking with Liam nearby, saw the scene and seemed to grasp Layla’s intent.
He nudged Liam with his shoulder, jerking his chin toward Stella. “Look. Layla’s got her doing laundry.”
Liam rubbed his temples.
Does Stella even know how to wash clothes? She’ll probably ruin them.
Eager to fan the flames, George rushed to his room and fetched more of his own clothes-several heavy items included.
As a star, he traveled with a sizable wardrobe even for a survival show.
He dumped the whole lot in front of Stella.
