Chapter 315 Fighting

Stella crouched low, making herself appear smaller and less threatening.

She even softened her voice as she addressed the pack of hyenas, “I’m just here for the box.”

Her words, however, did nothing to ease their tension. One of the hyenas lunged at her without warning.

Stella scrambled back, dodging left and right as she fled from the snapping jaws.

The viewers exploded with laughter.

[Did she really think she could reason with wild hyenas? Too funny!]

[How did Layla even get that box into their den in the first place?]

Darting between the three aggressive hyenas, Stella finally snatched the box during a brief opening.

She instantly shifted back to her avian form and took flight, soaring back to the campsite looking thoroughly disheveled.

The other contestants struggled to hold back their snickers at her sorry state.

Layla raised an eyebrow at Stella’s quick return but wasn’t surprised.

Of course, someone like her would use Julian as a distraction.

The fact that Julian hadn’t returned yet confirmed her suspicion.

After showing the retrieved box to Fiona’s team, Stella turned to Layla, her expression tense. “You’ve got some skills, Layla, hiding it in a hyena den.”

George, standing nearby, looked intrigued. “How did you manage that?”

Layla simply shrugged. “Wasn’t hard. Flew over, dropped it. Easy.”

George stared for a second before chuckling and holding his stomach. “Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant, Layla.”

It was Emily’s turn next.

Stella returned shortly, offering a thin smile. “You’re up.”

Emily gave Stella a measured look before turning and leaving with Jacob.

Stella’s total time was twenty-three minutes-slower than Layla’s, but still decent, considering her tussle with the hyenas.

Layla had expected Emily, skilled as she was, to return quickly.

Yet half an hour passed with no sign of her.

Emily’s teammate grew anxious. “Where are they? Could they be in trouble?”

Fiona’s team checked the feed from the Vanguard and shook their heads. “They just haven’t found it yet.”

A frown touched Layla’s lips as she glanced at Stella from the corner of her eye.

Stella stood with her arms crossed, a smug, victorious smile playing on her lips.

She wasn’t aiming for the top-just not to end up at the bottom. And now she finally had someone trailing

behind her.

Layla’s gaze darkened.

What did Stella do to make someone as capable as Emily struggle so much?

Finally, after forty-five minutes, Emily returned with Jacob and the box.

Her expression was cold enough to freeze fire. She shot Stella a sharp glare as she passed.

Once the two-hour challenge concluded, the rankings were clear.

Layla held first place, no contest.

Stella hadn’t done well either, landing second-to-last. Emily was dead last.

Stella approached Emily with fake sympathy. “I hid it right near your camp. Thought you’d find it in no time. Sorry it took so long.”

Emily responded with a cold snort, ignoring Stella completely as she turned and walked away with her

partner.

With the challenge over, everyone dispersed to their lodgings.

Layla’s team kept their wooden cabin, forgoing the better stone house to avoid the hassle of moving.

They offered it to Daisy, who’d come in second.

“You’re welcome anytime. I’ll cook something nice,” Daisy said, looking a bit sheepish.

Layla smiled and patted her shoulder. “Just take care of yourself.”

Since she didn’t need to pack, Layla decided to check on Emily.
