Beast Love Show: All For Her (by Sylvester Raven) novel Chapter 316

Chapter 316 Holds Grudges

Emily looked utterly winded, as if the air had been punched from her lungs.

Layla watched, a frown creasing her brow. She knew their friendship would sour eventually, but this level of; hostility was unexpected.

Then again, considering Stella’s nature, it made sense.

Stella discarded anyone who couldn’t serve as a stepping stone.

Shaking her head slightly, Layla continued to listen.

Suddenly, Emily let out a cold, humorless laugh. “Don’t think I don’t know about the Grant family’s dealings. What if I told Layla everything? How do you think that would go?”

At those words, Stella’s demeanor shifted.

Her eyes darted around, checking their surroundings.

With no one else nearby, she lowered her voice to a threatening hiss. You wouldn’t dare. Do you really think you’re a match for the Grant family?”

It was a blatant threat.

Emily stared at Stella, her eyes filled with pain and disillusionment.

In the end, all she asked was, “How did you become this person?”

Stella reacted as if she’d heard a joke. “Become? I’ve always been this person. You just never saw it before.”

That final statement seemed to shatter any remaining hope Emily held.

She gathered her belongings and walked away without a backward glance.

From her hiding spot, Layla saw the calculating look in Stella’s eyes as she watched Emily leave.

She’s planning something bad.

A knot of worry tightened in Layla’s chest, but she kept it to herself.

Late that night, Layla slipped out of her cabin, only to find Carson keeping watch outside.

“What’s wrong?” he whispered, stepping closer.

Layla put a finger to her lips. She quietly explained what she’d overheard between Emily and Stella.

Carson’s brow furrowed. “I’m coming with you,” he stated.

Layla nodded, relieved to have his company.

They made their way to the outskirts of camp, where Emily’s tent was pitched.

Everything seemed peaceful.

A warm, yellow glow emanated from within the tent, accompanied by the faint sound of Emily’s laughter.

Was I overthinking it?

Layla frowned, but the memory of Stella’s venomous expression resurfaced.

No. Stella holds grudges. She wouldn’t just let this go.

Suddenly, Carson’s arm wrapped around her waist, and he pulled her up into the branches of a nearby sree in one fluid motion.

Layla met his gaze, startled.

“We’ve got company,” he murmured, his eyes fixed below.

Both of them looked down toward Emily’s tent.

A dozen hyenas had encircled it, eyes gleaming with menace.

Their stance seemed unusually aggressive, as if driven by a personal vendetta-almost as though they had come here deliberately.

Layla’s heart dropped.

Why is this happening? Hyenas are vicious, yes, but also cautious by nature-not the type to provoke humans without

reason.

Even though Emily’s tent is pitched a little farther from the main campsite, this shouldn’t be happening. After all, this is still human territory.

A vague sense of dread settled in Layla’s chest, but Emily and the others remained oblivious to the threat.

Just as one of the hyenas coiled to lunge, Layla shouted out sharply, “Emily, look out!”

The sounds from the tent ceased immediately.

Emily didn’t emerge, but the hyena didn’t wait. It slashed at the tent fabric with its claws.

As the material tore, a feather, hardened and sharpened into an arrow, shot through the air.

It pierced the attacking hyena’s paw with a thunk. The animal yelped and rolled on the ground, whining in pain.

Layla lowered her hand, her lips pressed into a thin line. She hated harming the creature, but protecting Emily left no choice.

Something’s driving them here.

Emily and Jacob burst from the ruined tent, weapons ready, standing back-to-back against the circling pack.

Just as Emily prepared to strike, Jacob grunted and collapsed behind her.
