Just as Layla stepped inside, a figure darted into the cabin.

The figure moved with practiced silence, its cold gaze fixed on Shane’s unconscious form. Without hesitation, the intruder hoisted Shane over one shoulder.

Vanguard’s live stream captured every moment, and the chat exploded.

[Who the hell is that? He’s taking Prof. Slater!]

[Everyone else is wasted, and Layla just left. Is he really getting kidnapped?]

As the abductor turned to leave, a hand shot out, gripping his pant leg.

Emily, less drunk than she appeared, had been watching since he entered.

Seizing the opportunity, the man bolted from the cabin with Shane, vanishing into the night.

Layla returned to find Emily struggling to rise, Shane nowhere in sight.

Emily gasped, pointing weakly at the Vanguard screen.

Heart pounding, Layla helped Emily to a chair. “How do you feel? Are you hurt?”

“I’ll be fine.” Emily insisted, squeezing Layla’s hand. Her voice was faint but firm. “Notify the production crews. Go find him. Now.”

Layla nodded and stood, only to feel a hand clamp around her wrist.

Oliver’s eyes, though still glazed, burned with sobering intensity. “I’m coming with you.”

“You can barely stand,” Layla argued.

“Family training,” he said, pushing himself up. His color was already returning. “High alcohol tolerance, built-in detox systems. I’ll be clear-headed in minutes. You need backup.”

Layla gave a nod.

Having Oliver by her side would indeed make things easier.

If they were outnumbered, she could always send him to fetch help.

“Are you sure you can handle yourself?” she asked, unable to shake her concern despite Oliver’s gradually returning color.

Just as Oliver began to nod, a hand settled on his shoulder.

George helped him to his feet, clearing his throat. “I’m coming, too.”

Layla studied George-now perfectly sober, a stark contrast to the man who had been weeping with Oliver moments earlier.

Amused, she remarked, “You sober up fast.”
