Chapter 425 Stand Firmly on Your Side
Lada let out a deep sigh.
Stella would keep cooking up trouble no matter what happened.

Layla rubbed the space between her brows, then fixed Julian with a sharp, piercing gaze. “Why are you coming to warn me about this?”
Julian swallowed hard. “This whole plan is reckless. I know how powerful all of you are. If everything blows up, I’ll be the one taking the fall again. I’m done being the scapegoat.”
Layla was pleased that Julian knew which side his bread was buttered on.
She lifted one hand.
Liam huffed and handed him a cup of water.
Julian took the mug nervously and took a sip. The water carried a soft floral scent.
He glanced around Layla’s wooden cabin.
The furnishings were simple, yet every corner held carefully arranged warmth.
He sighed, but did not lose sight of why he had come.
His expression turned deadly serious. “I can’t go back empty-handed without the poison. That’s why I came to tell you everything-my way to make amends.”
An idea popped into Layla’s head.
She leaned over and whispered into Shane’s ear, “Do you have anything that fits the description of that poison?”
Shane met her eyes and instantly understood her scheme.
He smiled, stood up, and walked into his room. He then returned holding two glass vials.
One held a thick liquid that gave off a bitter herbal aroma.
The other contained a clear fluid that left faint streaks running down the inside of the glass when swirled.
Shane handed both vials to Layla. “The colored one is the antidote. The clear one is the poison.”
All their problems were now solved.
Layla passed the poison vial over to Julian. “Just give this to Stella. Don’t worry about anything else.”
She paused, narrowing her eyes in a warning stare. “If you decide to double-cross us, don’t say I didn’t warn you. I haven’t forgotten you carry the Berserker Serum inside your body.”
Julian’s gaze dimmed. “If I didn’t need the Grant family’s Berserker Serum just to keep my body stable, I would’ve run away long ago.”

His words struck Layla.
Finished
Grant family relied entirely on threats and bribes. They never treated anyone with genuine kindness.
People would abandon them the second their self-interest vanished.
Layla’s eyes narrowed.
Shane picked up the thread without needing prompting. “Give me three days. I might be able to develop inhibitor for it.”
Julian’s mouth fell open. He stared at Layla and Shane, overwhelmed with gratitude. “If you can really suppress the Berserker Serum, I swear I’ll stand firmly on your side and help you.”

Julian clutched the poison vial Shane had given him and made his cautious way back to Stella’s mud hut.
Stella was stacking wooden blocks. She shot a quick glance toward him. “You’re back. Nobody spotted you. right?”
Julian nodded rapidly. “I lost the Vanguard unit that was trailing me.”
When he had entered Layla’s place, Layla had made the Vanguard stay outside.
So, Stella had no way of knowing what had taken place inside those walls.
Stella tilted her head and held out her palm. “Hand it over.”
Julian pulled out the poison vial, his nerves frayed.
Stella uncapped it and sniffed the opening. Confusion flickered across her face. “Is this stuff actually lethal?”
Julian’s mind went blank.
What is she getting at?
She possibly expects me to test it. I should have asked Layla for an antidote just in case.
He gritted his teeth. “I tested it on local wildlife. Even a tiny drop kills instantly.”
Stella figured Julian dared not lie to her. She nodded, satisfied.
She slipped the vial into her small bag and spoke to Julian, “Go hunting more often these days. My birthday is coming up. I’m throwing a feast and inviting everyone over.”
